In SSMS, start and stop indicators do not display the same from similarly configured sonnections

I can't figure out why on some servers I connect to I get "indicators" on the servers and agents and on others I do. What is even more odd is that I believe the two servers I am connecting to are configured the same. See the image.
What would cause this?
Thanks,
Shawn

Hello Shawn,
AFAIK the issue is with WMI/permissions. I believe SSMS issues WMI queries to check the status of the service(s). Try this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188690(v=sql.90).aspx
Edit: Noticed you're using 2008R2, here is the updated link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188690(v=sql.105).aspx
