Doubts Regrding License and usage

Hi Everybody,

 

I am having license to SQL Server Developer edition. If i need to install Adventurework2008R2 for sqlserver 2008 and report Builder 3.0 did i ahve to get extra license for that?

Developer edition is a free license however it is as the name suggests for development only and cannot be used in production environments. You can install the adventureworks database and report builder 3 on the instance as long as you are using it for development work only. Once you start using the database instance for production you will need to purchase a license. Note that developer edition mimics enterprise edition, so when moving to production if you purchase a standard edition license for example there are feature differences between standard and developer editions that can catch you out.
