ms sql server creation

Question

when i am trying to connect to sql server it is not getting connected to a server n its nt showng any servers in my computer..so how to create a server in my machine?

Hello,

You'll have to install SQL Server first. You can download a copy of express edition and use it for free. What version are you looking for?

Hi saswat,

You could download SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26729. And install it.

How to install SQL Server 2008 R2:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143219(v=sql.105).aspx.

Then you could use SQL Server Management Studio to connect the instance.
