I have a production server with SQL Server 2005 and SSIS 2005 on it. According to our vendor their product is not certified on SQL Server 2008 yet. However I have developers who have BIDS 2008 and are designing SSIS Packages. My understanding is that these packages will not run under SSIS 2005 so I need to install SSIS 2008 on the server.

My question is. Can I install or upgrade SSIS to 2008 only, or can I install them side by side so that I am still in compliance with the vendor requirement of SQL Server 2005 and my developers requirement of SSIS 2008?

You can install SSIS stand-alone, so I cannot see why you couldn't install SSIS 2008 on that machine.
