I am having trouble getting the SQL Server Management Studio and the Profiler and the Business Intelligenece Dev studio to work for SQL Server 2005 SP3 Developer Version on Win 7. The Server Management Studio will not even fire up. Any Ideas?

    Hi,

Installing Visual Studio 2008 will install SQL Server 2005 Express if you select all features. Applying SQL Server 2005 SP3 will upgrade your SQL Express and Developer instances to SP3. If you don't need SQL Server 2005 Express, uninstall and then apply SQL Server 2005 SP3, that should be succeeded.

I have found post with a similar prob to mine.   The cause may be that VS2008 installed SQL Server Express automatically before I installed SQL Server 2005 Dev myself. I did use the SKUUPGRADE=1 option on my instalation but I will try unistalling everything and insalling SQL Server 2005 again.
