AnswerLost all Visual Studio Projects

All my application projects in Visual Studio 2008 have dissapeared including Visual Web Developer projects and I am unable to properly use Visual Studio Express 2008 - I can see the databases listed in SQL Server Management Studio but cannot use the database objects.  (Using Vista Business)

I think this may have happened when I was in Network & Sharing Centre and I turned file sharing off.  When I tried to open Sql Server Management Studio I recieved the message :

    The automatically saved settings file

'C\Users\my computer name\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Settings\VWD Express\CurrentSettings.vssettings' cannot be found.  You can change this file on the 'Import and Export Settings' Tools Options page.  The IDE will use your most recent settings for this session.

The same thing happened when I tried to use VWD Express 2008.

Back in Network & Sharing Centre I then examined the option 'Show me all files and folders I am sharing' which indicated IIS Physical Direcories,

I also examined 'Show me all the shared network folders on this computer' which indicated sqlExpress & Printers.

I then decide to turn file sharing back on but this made no difference, all the projects were still missing and the Visual Studio applications are still not working properly.

Can I fix this by restoring a shdow copy of the settings folders for VWD and Sql Express?  Or will I also have to restore machine.config files and other related files to get things working correctly?

Does anyone know why this would happend and can anyone suggest a fix?

(when I have checked in the Events Viewer I hav e noticed that while SQLEXpress has been running the event - 'Starting up database 'AdventureWorks2008' is occuring once every second!!!)

    Hi,

This problem probably dues to loses of setting/config files, so make sure you have those files. If you found you don't have those files, could you copy it from other machine to see whether or not it works.
