Database marked as suspect?

Question

i have one database that is marked as suspect and im not sure how to go about troubleshooting and or fixing this issue?  i have one SQL 2005 box in my shop running on w2k3. here is the message i get when i try to backup the database using backup exec.

there are two errors here so im not sure if both of these are pointing to this db or if the top one is in reference to another DB. but since it doesnt list the name of that DB im not sure.

Are those errors from the SQL Error log?

First thing to do is check your SQL Server error log, it will tell  you why ptcareersSQL was marked as suspect.

Just curious are you using maintenace plan or Third party product like Symantec to perform backup?

Those error logs were from backup exec

We use symantec backup exec for all backups.

here is the l output (the error that i found is in bold): i just took all output on the log from 11/3/09 which is when the backups run.

we determined that the ptcareersql db is not even being utilized by our company at the moment so the db was empty and was not holding any of our data within it. we detached the suspect one and reattached a working one. so will see if after the backups run tonight if i still receive those error messages.
