- Hello Rumesh,
you need Sql Server 2005 with SP2 for installing under MS Vista.
If you only want to test and develop on the maschine, you should take the developer edition (~60 $).
If you want to use the Sql Server as a productive system and have enough money (>= 15K $) then take the enterprise edition; with the standard edition you are about 1.5K $).

SQL 2008 developer and Enterprise will have full and same functionalities , expect that developer edition cant be put it in to prodcution.
Both SQL 32 & 64 bit of SQL server 2008 ENTERPRISE editions are not supported in VISTA OS.
SQL server 2008 developer edition is supported on following flavours of VISTA:
SQL Server 2008 Developer (64-bit) x64Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Windows Vista Home Basic x64
Windows Vista Enterprise x64
Windows Vista Business x64SQL Server Developer (32-bit)
Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Starter Edition
Windows Vista Enterprise
Windows Vista Business and all the above 5 64 bit OS.
