Hi Pradeep,
From the setup log of “SQL Server Management Studio Express” (SSMSE), we have seen the following error messages:
Attributes do not match. Present attributes (Directory, Compressed) , included attributes (0), excluded attributes (Compressed, Encrypted).
From the error message, it seems that the folder has “Compressed” attribute. However the SSMSE has to be installed on a folder without attribute “Compressed”. If we install it to a folder with “Compressed” attribute, the installation will fail.
In the case of this folder is compressed, please follow the steps below:
1. Right-click the folder and select “Properties”
generally, the SSMSE will be installed on this folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE2. In the tab of “General”, please click “Advanced…” button
3. In the “Advanced Attributes” dialog, please uncheck “Compress contents to save disk space” and click “OK”
meanwhile, if “Folder is ready for archiving” and “Encrypt contents to secure data” is checked too, please uncheck them too.4. In the “Properties” dialog, “Click OK”
5. In the dialog of “Confirm Attribute Changes” popup, please select “Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files” and click “OK”
If there is anything unclear, please let me know.

Thank you so much for the response.
I followed the 5 steps and the installation went through successfully.
