Running sql server 2008 R2. XP installation got corrupted.
I attached the hdd with the corrupted xp to a new pc but when I try to copy the mdf files to new pc I get "Access denied". How can I copy the mdf files from the old hdd to the new pc? All mdf files were attached in the old sql server 2008 R2 with the corrupted xp and I wasn't able to detach them or back up them.- Edited by WalangAlam Thursday, January 24, 2013 1:20 AM

I was able to copy the files by
what you need to do with the file attached to your computer log on as a adminitrator click on my computer ,go to tool last option i think it is folders option then click view scroll down the advance section and un click simple file sharing then apply.go to the file that you need to unlock and right mouse click go to properties ,security tab, then information comes up click ok,go to advance ,click owner tab select who get owner rights then tick to you left hand coner to the bottom the box to replace owner.then ok.
