Connecting to "Denali" Instance from SSMS 2005/2008

Denali returns data that SSMS 2008 has no clue about, so it is not surprising that it does not work out. You can still run queries against Denali from a query window in SSMS 2008.

For SSMS 2005, Microsoft did release changes so that you could connect from SSMS 2005 to SSMS 2008. But before that change, the connection was blocked entirely, so it is not equally pressing this time.

Hey there,

                        I'm having the same issue trying to connect to DENALI via SMO. What options do I have now? I have CTP 3.
