can any one update me on this. Is this a new product from Microsoft? How different is it from SQL Server 2005.
I'm working in a Data warehouse project which is about to start its development and the environment we have is SQL Server 2005 as Database & Integration Services as ETL Tool.
Please do guide me, should i move to "katmai" instead of SQL Server 2005 and how different would be the performance.

Katmai is just the next version of sql server, aka sql server 2008. They have put a lot of work into the BI side of things such as revamping reporting services and adding change data capture to the database engine. Here's a link to the new features page and there are also a good many webcasts to be found over there.
