Отвечено Can't create and modify a Knowledge Base.

  • Monday, August 13, 2012 3:32 PM

    Hi all,

When trying to open an existing knowledge base or when we create a new knowledge base we get the error below (SEE - Error that occurs when trying to create or open an existing knowledge base).

We have set debug in the administration page to view the errors in the DQS_Main.log file but we don't see any paths we can take on our side to get us up and running (SEE - Error messages from DQS_Main.log) .  Is there any suggestions that can be made to fix our issue based on the errors posted in this thread?  We are using SQL 2012 with CU 2.

    Thanks for any help.

Error that occurs when trying to create or open an existing knowledge base:

I haven't seen this one before...

    1. By chance is the DQS_MAIN and DQS_PROJECTS database and tlog online?

    Any free space?

    exec sp_helpdb 'DQS_MAIN'
    exec sp_helpdb 'DQS_PROJECTS'
    exec DQS_MAIN.dbo.sp_spaceused
    exec DQS_PROJECTS.dbo.sp_spaceused

    2. Can you please check the SQL Errorlog for any clues there.

    3. Have you renamed the server or anything "changed" lately? Installed any patches?

    4. You could run a profiler trace, and see if there is a stored procedure, or TSQL batch failing, and see if there is any Error reported in SQL engine itself.

    Thanks, Jason

    Hi

I have the same error doing the same things (trying to access a knowledge base). There are no SQL errors in the profiler , but this one is from DQS log file:

I also found this error in SQL Server logs (didn't happen at the time I was trying to open a knowledge bas, but could be related)

I've run dqsinstaller.exe -upgradedlls and it's resolved SQL Server error message issue. But I still can't open / edit any of the knowledge bases

What's the error in the DQS log now?

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.<instancename>\MSSQL\Log\DQServerLog.DQS_MAIN.log

    Thanks, Jason

    Hi

There are no error messages in the log now but I still get an error on the client side, when I try to open/edit a knowledge base.

I tried to run SSIS package with DQS cleansing component in it  - it worked just fine. I also have a lot (probably around a thousand) of "residual" SSIS data cleansing projects , when I open the DQS project tab....

I believe I'm having the same issue.

    • I upgraded to the .NET 4.5 framework
    • I ran dqsinstaller.exe -upgradedlls
    • The Data Quality Client seems to work correctly
    • The DQS Cleansing Component does not work correctly

I can add the component and connect to the SQL Server DQS instance; however, none of of my knowledge bases appear in the list.

As far as I can tell there is no way to downgrade DQS back to 4.0 even if I uninstall 4.5. It seems I'm going to have to do a full re-install of SQL Server and Visual Studio.

Are there any other alternative solutions?

     Answered

The DQS product team is working on making it compatible with .Net 4.5.

There is a fix to be released in SQL 2012 Service Pack 1. However it is not yet out yet.

There is a CTP preview of PCU1 from 9/20/2012, but that current preview release does not include the fixes for this compatibility issue.

    Thanks, Jason

Thanks for the response Jason. Do you have a release date for SQL Server 2012 SP1 yet?

FYI, I was able to get back to a functioning environment by taking the following steps:

      • Uninstalled Visual Studio 2012
      • Uninstalled .NET Framework 4.5
      • Repair Installed Visual Studio 2010
      • DQSInstaller.exe -upgradedlls

Was this issue fixed in SP1 or SP1 CU1? I did not see it specifically listed in the fixes.

Yes it was supposed to be fixed. I'm not sure why it missed the docs though.
