I install add-in and run fine for a while, then all of sudden I could not see Table Analyze tool and data mining tab at my ribbon. I re-run server configuration and re-connect to DMAddinDB (remote server, but I am the administrator), but data mining add-in and table analyzer still not showing at my ribbon.

Then I uninstall DMAddin, re-install it, go through configuration again, but still the tabs are not showing up.

Any idea you can help me get my add in back?

    ·         Run Excel as Admin.

    ·         From the Office Button, click the Excel Options button.

    ·         In the dialog, navigate to the Add-ins page

    ·         In the Manage drop down (at the bottom of the page) select Disabled items.

    ·         Select the data mining addins if listed and click Enable.

    ·         Close the dialogs and close Excel

    ·         Restart Excel normally.

Let us know if this does not resolve the problem.

    Tayyana,

Thanks, that works! When I select disable item, datamining addin is the only item at the pop property window, it said, this add-in is disable becuase it is preventing Excel work properly, I just enable anyway. Then it works.

One more question, I builde mining model in AS 2005 cubes, can I connect to that mining model using this add-in?

Yes, you can use (browse, query etc) any data mining model that you have on the server if you have appropriate permissions.

    Hi,

I just configured sql server 2008. Now this is on a remote machine as I dont have admin rights on my machine.

I installed the data mining plugin for it on my machine wherein I connected to the remote server using its IP. It all got done fine.

Now when i open excel 2008 I am unable to see the datamining/analyse tab.

I tried going into options and checking for diasbled add-ins in excel but that did not show me any thing.

But again I am not logged in as admin. Could that be an issue in anyway?

    Please help.

Also I have my data I want to process in an excel sheet. Could I still work with that information to do data analysis?

    Please help. Thank you.

    Hi,

I am experiencing the exact same issue. I have installed all the necessary software required but still do not have the Data Mining tab. Were you able to resolve yours? Please inform me.

    Babykingsway,

What version of Microsoft Excel do you have? Microsoft Excel® 2007 has round button in the top left corner. Microsoft Excel® 2010 has green "File" button. If you have Microsoft Excel® 2010, we also need to know if you have 32 or 64-bit version. To check this click the File button and select Help. The version information will appear underneath the text “About Microsoft Excel®”.

    algkep,

There was another thread for add-ins getting disabled. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqldatamining/thread/61647e47-99e3-45c7-8fb7-c3ecdafffaa9

It refers to non displayed ribbon, suggest Predixion which is not free, and something about CU, but I'm running R2.

Mine works when I enable it, but when I restart Excel it is disabled again..

SQL Server 2008 version of data mining add-ins work with both SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2. There were no changes in data mining add-ins for R2.

SQL Server 2008 SP2 CU2 is available now and you can get updated version of data mining add-ins from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2467239/LN . Let us know if it fixes the issue for you.
