Hello SQL Gurus,
I apologize in advance if this question was asked in the past. I cant seem to find it in the forum.
I have Full Blown SQL 2008 R2. I have set it up. Things are up and running.
However, is there a way NOT to install SQL Native Client during the initial installation of SQL Server 2008? I select all features during the installation.
I have an application that SQL SErver 2008 Native client is NOT supported. I have uninstalled and setup SQL 2005 NAtive client but I still cannot connect to the database.
I appreciate your assistance and time.
THanks!

Saturday, December 01, 2012 12:09 PMThis should not be a problem. The install should only install the new native client, but not modify the installed ones..

Thanks. But the problem is that, I do not want to install any Native Client during SQL 2008 installation. I would like to setup Native Client 2005 later on?
Do you know the SQL2008 component that belongs to Native Client?

You can run different versions of SQL Server Native Client side-by-side. You should be fine leaving the SQL Server 2005 version installed even with the SQL Server 2008 version installed.

DAn, thank you for your message. What I am trying to get here is the component that installs SQL Native Client. It is like: Hub transport Server: Send and receive connector, etc.
