I am periodically getting A SQL Connection Error when trying to connect to SQL Server using either MS Access or SQL Management Studio. This is occurring on a windows server 2012 VM running terminal services. There are no more than 3 users on the machine at any one time. Rebooting the machine fixes the issue for a while but it keeps coming back. Does anyone know how to fix this? The database is SQL 2008R2 Standard, and is located on a different machine. Other machines can still access the database without issues.

    Hi,

How does the SQL Server Configuration Manager look? Is all configured correctly?

Are you accessing the server using the correct server name from those machines?

When this issue occurs, I would try an odbcping to see what the results would be.

Perhaps you can check into these things until an MVP or MSFT Eng replies.

    Good Luck

    Frank.
