Hi i am sriram and i recently joined in an IT company in chennai as Test Engineer. I want to enhance my career in testing by exploring more in testing domain, so i need some guidance. Please help me in doing courses and certifications in testing which would be helpful for my career. please tell me which courses and certifications i have to do that will help me as i am starting my testing career, aslo tell me where i can do my courses and certifications in chennai.

How can I sync Blackberry wirelessly

Many software can sync Blackberry, but most them need to sync via USB. my troulbe is my USB packed with Blackberry when purchurse are lost, so anyone who knows a software that can sync Blackberry wirelessly(It is better have an insrtuction!!)

Testing Time zone components

Folks,

Can anybody throw some light - broadly on what considerations (functional/negative tests) to keep in mind while testing software which has timezone related functionality. Can't describe more than this due to NDA.

Any specific Boundary conditions - DST/23:59/00:00/12:00/11:59 - is something I am looking at. Anything other than this?

can't execute matlab 2007b file - Java problem

Hi
I am having only one file of matlab that include everything (no need for installation ) and I tried to execute it , after few second matlab is open and after one second it crash and close .
I got a file in matlab work folder , that show I have a problem with Java .
In the past I use already this matlab file and everything was O.K but something happen and I don't know what .

Hello everyone,

Our application uses frames written in JSP code. All of the browser testing tools i found will not work with our web-based software because entering a URL will always load the homepage and not the specific page that you want to view. So far we've been using IE Tester and Virtual PC, but we're looking for something that is faster and more efficient to test with. The tools that require you to enter the URL will not work. I was wondering if you guys know of any tools that might work for our software.

I'm Dave Navarro in Raleigh, NC. I'm a QA Manager & have been testing software for over 10 years.

Currently my biggest question is how to get the most out of my Mercury QuickTest Professional trial. I've downloaded it (but not installed it yet) and I want to learn a little more before starting my 14 days with it.

If anyone's got any advice for quick-start tutorial sites, I'm all ears.

I am not able to successfully run and pass "Reinstall with IO" test which is being run for Scanner using WLK 1.4(RTM) for Win7(RC) 32-bit client. Studio is installed in Windows 2003 server R2 with SP2.

As crazy as this sounds it is true. I need to be able to have outlook 2007 check for new messages quicker than 1 minute. I know this can be done, it is just a parameter.. I am losing jobs right and left due to lag time. This is due to new regulations that went into affect recently. This is not internet speed since I am 50/20 and I have used every server and have a low use server now and a quick computer. This little difference in time will cause me to either succeed or fail. Hi everybody, here goes my first question after some months reading the forum, so all answers are welcome in advance.

In our small company we have managed to get a pair of Hyper-V servers to work. So we allready have some Virtual machines running on them and with several snapshots and so on.

The trouble is that after reading HWTSAM we are thinking about moving forward to have our Virtual Machine Library, and I need documentation about:
- What hardware to rely on to make those libraries, shall we use a big HDD or is it ok to use different machines for server and library purposes.
- Are there some software apps to simply drag&drop VM from server to libraries, or do we need to perform any tasks.
- Can I replicate the VM I have on my library into the server, and if I can, do I have to configure network settings for each one.

..well, many questions to be my first post, but I thing that this is the right place to make them.

I have successfully installed Bugzilla using the perl -MCPAN command for Bundle::Bugzilla. I see that it got installed in a hidden folder called .cpan under /home
My Questions are -

(1) There are only few files and folders, like Bugzilla.pm CPAN.pm, DBD, Interchange.pm and libnet.pm.

and inside the /home/.cpan/build folder there is another Bundle-Bugzilla-0.12-VaTvbF
Is it really installed?

(2) Now how do I run it from the web browser?

I want to test / evaluate encoding converters. To do that, I need a lot of strings whose encoding conversion is already known.

For example, I'd like to have about a hundred UTF-16 text strings, perhaps 10 per common language (Chinese traditional, Chinese simplified, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, etc) and I'd like for those strings to incorporate the "odd cases" such as "combining characters".

Then I'd like to have "repeats" of all those strings, except now in UTF-8. Furthermore, I'd like even more "repeats" of those strings to represent each language in its own Windows "code page."

Once I have all those strings, I can use an encoding conversion tool to compare the conversion to the expected value.

Where do I go to find such I18n "string resources" for testing purposes?

We are using the Microsoft PICT tool to generate pairwise test parameter sets. There are some interesting modelling questions with PICT that arise when you try to model more complex cases, such as:
* How can you state that a pair of variables is independent (and should therefore be disregarded for pair generation)?
* How do you handle cases where one value in one parameter enables / disables another parameter?
* What can you do when you have a manually optimized set of parameters and values (i.e. the generated test cases for them) and you want to extend this with additional orthogonal variables (standard pairwise)?
* ... many more
For some we have developed 'patterns' (mostly constraints) on how to deal with these situations, for others we don't know.

Is there someone who has collected these kinds of 'usage patterns for PICT'? Is there a forum (sub-forum) for this?

VerQueryValue and multi codepage Unicode characters

In our application we use VerQueryValue() API call to fetch version info such as ProductName etc. For some applications running on a machine in Traditional Chinese (code page 950), the ProductName which has Unicode sequences that span multiple code pages, some characters are not translated properly. For instance,in the sequence below,

Some characters are returned as invalid Unicode 0x003f (question mark)

In the above sequence, the Unicode '8F 6F' is not picked up & converted properly by the WinAPI call and is just filled with the invalid Unicode '00 3F' - since '8F 6F' is present in codepage 936 only (ie., Simplified Chinese)

The .exe has just one translation table - as '\StringFileInfo\080404B0' - which refers to a language ID of '804' for Traditional Chinese only

How should one handle such cases - where the ProductName refers to Unicode from both 936 and 950 even though the translation table has one entry only ? Is there any other API call to use ?

Also, if I were to right-click on the exe and view 'details' tab, it shows the Productname correctly ! So it appears Microsoft uses a different API call or somehow
handle this correctly. I need to know how it so done.
