open Windows Messenger or Skype?!

Question

Hi

When I add code to my sidebar gadget to open Windows Live Messenger (see below), a click opens a new IE-window - while same code for Skype correctly opens the Skype app only! Are there any better ways to open Winows Live Messenger?
