I want to EMBED (that is, not to rely on linking) all my video clips, and any other media in my power point presentation so that I can email ONE *.pptx file, and anyone can open it at the other end by simply double clicking the attachment.
Is this possible using Power Point 2007?

Hyperlinking
–Save video or video segment to your computer
–In PowerPoint, type text and highlight a word or phrase (e.g., “here”)
–Insert > Hyperlink > Locate your video and click OK
When viewing the slide show, you can click on “here” and it will launch the video in your media player or stream it from the Internet.
Embedding
–Save video or video segment to your computer
–Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File > Locate your video and click OK
–Do you want to play it automatically or when clicked? Totally up to you
-When viewing the slide show, you can click on the image and the video will start playing in the PPT itself. Click again to pause.
Really Embedding
–Save video or video segment to your computer
–View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox
–Click on More Controls (hammer and wrench icon)
–Scroll down to Windows Media Player
–Draw a box that will become the image below
–Right click on the media player > Select properties
–Click on the empty cell next to “Custom”
–Browse for your video > Click OK
–In slideshow mode, you will be able to play the video embedded with controls like rewind, fast forward, sound, etc.
–You can also right click to open more menu controls, like View > Full Screen -

This is all good, but does not give me the answer how to create a single file (to include slides and video clips)?
Imagine you need to email your presentation in a single file and you do not want to zip it, and have the other party to unzip it ....
Just a single file to include slides and video clips.
Is there a way?
Thanks,
George

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 3:19 AMThe only possible solution i could figure out is just keep the movie file at same location as that of ppt and them embedd it. In any case you will have two files but could be easily transported till they reside together.

I tried the above mentioned solution without any luck. I copied my files (.ppt and two mpg's) onto my flash-drive (mounted as drive Z
and tried to open it from the flash-drive on another computer (portable). The drive mapped up as F: on this computer and in my presentation it was a full-path to my clips, not a relative path...Anyone?

Usually, I zip the video files and embed them as objects....
Viewers will get one extra step to view the video. However, the trick still effective, to make everything together.
