Get the display name from the user column using the SPD

Question

Hi all

I am using the SPD to do a workflow. There is a column whose type is user&group. I want to get the user's display name like *** ***, not domian\account. But I always get the account from the SPD. Is there any method to get the display name from the user column?

Change the field (column) so that it displays the display name (it is configurable) and use that data.

Wow, hmm.  Only other way I know to get it for sure is within InfoPath using the UserProfileService, which retrieves profile info.  SPD 2010 has this built-in to its actions for SP2010, but they didn't add it to SPD 2007.

Chiqnlips used calculated column to achieve this requirement. I have not tested yet but I think it worth trying. You can see the article below for the detailed steps:
