I have been thrown into the SharePoint blender with no support to look to. What I need to know is why the "Rich Text Editor" does not appear when I select it during the process of adding a web part? What comes up is the HTML editor. The SharePoint Administrator at HQ is out for another two weeks (having a baby) and no one has been able to tell me why this is happening.

I therefore humble myself in front of the SharePoint community looking for a Guru or Hero to come to my aid. I would greatly appreciate a solution or even a suggestion to look at a page in a manual, an article on the web, or anything that can help to resolve my problem.

Hi,
I have a large list and item created into subfolder. Total item count is more than 9500 and also crossed 2000 inside some of sub folders.

Some of our users get error when they trying to Filer out on any column though it was working 3 days back.

When end user click "Show Filter Choice" it gives error i.e "<Render Failed>". I have examine Event Viewer where captures many errors related to database error (Unknown SQL Exception 1087 occured. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.

Must declare the table variable "@_scopeTbl".
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'with'. If this statement is a common table expression or an xmlnamespaces clause, the previous statement must be terminated with a semicolon.

Surprisingly system account is still able to filter any views on any column.

Please provide solution ...I am really frustrated..

I have just installed MOSS 2007 and SQL Server 2005 to a new Windows Server 2003 R2 w/SP2 machine. After configuring MOSS and installing infrastructureupdateforwindowssharepointservices3.0-kb951695 on a x86 machine, I restored my farm backup that I have made on my previous server. The restore operation completed successfully and my farm is up and running again, but I keep seeing entries in the Application event log with event IDs 7076, 6398 and 6102.

Domain change

In my org is planning to integrate all the domains to xyzdomain.

My doubt is after the integrations it's affect the SharePoint site.

Problems create my site with Knowledge Network installed

I have Sharepoint 2007 installed and have installed Knowledge Network, I Have a top level site and it loads OK. I can create sub sites within the top level site with out issue, however every time I try to create my site it times out. Initially it stated that the managed path did not exit, however I know that it does as I can create sites under that path. Any ideas on what the cause could be?

Knowledge Network was part of MOSS 2007 Beta.

It was then removed.

The forum has now been migrated to the new forum system. It is still just as DEAD.

I am not one for putting people down for posting to the wrong forum and I am not going to begin now. I do however want to make everyone aware that this particular forum has been set up to help users that have problems with a Microsoft Product called Knowlege Networks. I think people are seeing the word Knowledge Networks and feel its a free for all to ask any question. In reality this is an acutual product and if you have questions about this product feel free please.... we love to talk about this technology. If on the other hand your question is about anything other than Knowledge Networks please find the appropriate forum to post your questions. They will get answered in a much more timely manner.

Issue with "inCommon" Webparts for KN

I have been having issues when acessing KN members pages, errors relating to Portrait in common, contacts in common etc. In the logs it was reporting error accessing perf counter System.InvalidOperationException: The requested Performance Counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as ReadOnly

I actually had an MS person on site with me adn we checked everything in perfmon, no KN Counters to be seen.

I performed a search on the HD on the server to see if the were any DLLs relating to the counters that may not have registerd correctly and came across the following. Funnily enough once I run this it worked OK.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\WebServices\Shared\KnowledgeNetwork\bin and funnily enough run InstallKNPerfCounters.exe

I am new to SharePoint and I am having problems getting the default web site to come up.

When I go into IIS and right click on default web site and choose browse and a welcome page comes up. I then click on My Company's Internal web site and I get the following generic error.

Please advise, and Thank you in advance

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

Where are the KN install files?

I attended a MOSS training course (MS 5061) this week with a Microsoft certified training provider and now I'm totally confused about the current status of KN.

After reading the announcement on this forum and various blogs - Bob Fox, etc - I'd formed the impression that the release of KN had been postponed and that the install files are no longer available. My trainer assured me that this isn't the case and that KN ships in the box with MOSS 2007. The Microsoft courseware also implied that the product had shipped and is ready to use in production.

The MOSS administrator's companion, in the section entitled 'Installing and Configuring Knowledge Network for SharePoint Server 2007' states:

Installing Knowledge Network

Start the installer by clicking KNServer.msi.
In the Knowledge Network window, click Start.
In the End-User License Agreement window, read the license agreement and then click I Accept.
In the Server Type window, click Install and allow the application to finish.
After installation is complete, click Close.
Repeat steps 1 through 3 on every server in the Office Server Farm.

But it says nothing about where to obtain said .msi file.

So my questions are:

Does KN ship in the box with MOSS 2007?
If so, where are the installation files?

we are thinking of implementing KN in our MOSS environment

can we have one KN Client which connects to three (MOSS + KN) servers, is it possible, we need that because one is a production environment, one is pre-prodution environment and the last one is our local developers environment....
is it possible to use KN over the extranet, for example our main production environment is (MOSS + KN) is in USA, and we want people to connect through KN Client from UK using there own laptops, is it possible.
where can i find any architecture, any system and any feature kind of diagrams and documents for (MOSS + KN)

Hi all and thank you for reading my post.

Looks like I have an issue with the Sharepoint timer Service. Everything in my DEV enviroment works well untill I install the 32 bit version of KN. I have followed the included documentation for install Kn on the Server and I it creates the KNID database without a hitch and then I reset the Office Search Service and then I have a look in the Event Log on the Server and I have a tonne of errors that are as follows:

Installation is all in Australian Time format as well I reproduced the Same error in US Time Format as I first thought there may have been a simple Date Month issue. But still no go.

The server is not operational

1. When I try People search it works fine but when I click on the Tab "External People" I get a message: "The server is not operational"

2. When I click on the link "Find people who know this Person" it gives me "An Unexpected error has occurred"

For both cases, event viewer shows an error message similar to:

"A runtime exception was detected. Details follow.

Message: The server is not operational.

KN Client find people does not work

After a couple of initial teething issues, KN is installed and appears to work , here comes the however. When clicking on the sys tray icon for the KN client and selecting Find internal or external people, the following loads, but it is jus a blank page, no errors etc

Any suggestions on what I may have missed, I have tried specifying the default search according to the suggested details under my site, however this gives a page can not be displayed instead, nothing in the box gives a blank page

KN Client install issue

After the client goes through it's initial instalation it runs analysis but then errors with the message

The request failed with HTTP status 504: Gateway Time-out.

Any clues to why this might be happening?

Hello KN fans, this is a bit of a mea culpa, in our enthusiasm for having an RC0 build we rushed to put it up on our download site and unfortunately it caused some difficulty for people downloading this awesome technology. Well here’s the good news, not only is it fixed, but you can now tell all of your friends to go and get it. how can I update the default template for new mySites? After studying the "Office SharePoint Server 2007 Administrator's Comnion" I see only a programaticly approach (the Object model). Is there any possibility for customers to modify and "save as default"?
