Hello, you need to verify that the Search Windows Service is running on the computer. If you are using Enterprise search, the service name is Sharepoint Server Search.

    Hi Hasan Siddiqui,

This is common error with no fixed cause. Sometimes the problem may be with Application Pool or sometime with Search Service Application itself.

There are few troubleshooting tips you may proceed with:

    1) Restart the SharePoint Search Service from Administrative Tools -> Services or
    2) Goto Computer management... Select Services and applications.... Start indexing service. or
    3
) Verify if the Search Service Application Pool is running in IIS or
    4) Try changing the application pool of your SharePoint Search Application in Search Application Properties.

To exactly verify the problem, enter the term and hit the search and quickly check the event viewer for comprehensive details.

Let me know if above any of the step solves your problem

    Hi Hasan,

By reading the exception you posted it seems that firewall is preventing the Search to communicate PR-PKM-FE1. Ensure that firewall is turned OFF in PR-PKM-FE1 server.

Let me know if this solves the problem.

    Hi Hasan.

Could you please elaborate about what exception you encounter when you hit the search button. Does SharePoint Search returns any exception message like "Search is unavailable" or "Search is unable to connect Search Service" or any thing similar.

    Let me know the details.

    Thanks & Best Regards,

I have find some problem thare .. on FE server 1 so what i have done here change the sercices both

1.Use this server for serving search queries on FE server 2

    2. Use this server for indexing content   on FE server 2

and assigned both are  one server and now  serch result is geeting and crowaler is running sucessfully.

what i feel some problem on my FE1 Server where serch servise is showes running but when i was trying to open Serch servise its getting error

This error might occur if the server is not responding to client requests, the firewall or proxy configuration is preventing the server from being contacted, or the search administration Web service is not running on the affected server. "

    Hi Hasan,

I have found a blog that has reported exact issue that you are currently facing. Follow the steps given in the article and see whether it solves your search problem.

    http://ecmteamblog.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/search-administration-could-not-connect-to-server/

An extract from the above article link:

"If you have the query server and index server roles on different servers in the farm and you get the following error showing in the ‘Server Status’ area of the Search Administration page….

Could not connect to server yourservernamehere for application ‘yourSSPnamehere’. This error might occur if the server is not responding to client requests, the firewall or proxy configuration is preventing the server from being contacted, or the search administration Web service is not running on the server."
