Site Search : Not Working - Responds with no results
- Ok so why would my search feature that is built into sharepoint not work? I have the DropDownMenu as This Site : <search> InputBox Search Button "Go"
and everything is EXACTLY the same as the fresh load of the site. Reloaded the site 3x now...
Still have no valid search feature.
I have not altered it nor have I tried reprogramming it... Any suggestions?- Moved byMike Walsh MVPMVP, ModeratorMonday, November 02, 2009 2:55 PMsearch q (From:SharePoint - Development and Programming)

- You'd need access to the actual server itself. Then go to Start > Administration Tools > SharePoint Central Administration.
While you are there check the Event Viewer on the server to see if there are any errors.

- Ok so apparently after further research I have no search.js javascript... ;/ sad day ;(
So... how would I go about creating my search.js? can I copy another MOSS site and tag it to my own?
On other sites the search function works but on my site it doesn't???? GRR? - Ok I have the search.js loading and it appears it is working or returning data now but from another site? What the....
So confused Hi,
Could you please let me know how you find the cause is related with search.js file?
How do you add the search.js file and make the search works for one of the sites?
For your information search.js is located on %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\[Lcid]\ by default, could you please verify whether the file is in the correct place?

Sincerely,Lambert QinPosting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.- Going to need a little bit of info here. I'd assume you've turned on the search service in Central Admin?
Are you getting any errors in the Event Viewer?
Is the server name different from the root URL for the site you are having issues with searching?
It sounds like you've created a site collection using one of the Collaboration site collecion templates (Team site)? There's nothing wrong with that, but they don't have the more robust MOSS Search capabilities enabled by default. Not saying that would fix this specific issue, but did want to let you know that it doesn't sound like you are using all that MOSS has to offer for search functionality.

It is a server... I am using SPD and have been having problems accessing the server. Just got the SDK last night and have been messing around with it...
Suppose I can systematically check each component of the site and make sure each are working for the search. It just responds no results found when the "This site" in the search is selected.
How do I access the Central Admin portion? I know it is through the site administration? But exactly how... I am limited to my resources.
I have: SPD, SDK, Sharepoint Bible and plenty of other books and resources that I have read through and still reference.
Point me in the direction??
