Unapproved items in Form (document) library

SP2007: Used InfoPath to create a form to submit data to a form (document) library with Infopath updating various columns. Works fine. With 800 staff submitting data I need a View on the form library showing those entries that are:
Blank or Rejected and not approved, and not in Progress.
The closest I could come to a solution was to create a View where the Approval status (Group by) is blank, but that excludes Rejected Items. I could create an additional view to show those that were rejected but on approval status you cant create any 'Group by' apart from blank.
Excluding getting a programmer to do this, how can non approved items be isolated and displayed seperatly? If this forum is not appropiate for this question, please suggest an alternative.

Hello all,
I am new to InfoPath and SharePoint, I need to use InfoPath to build multiple forms. I will need to build form A and pass parameters to form B in order to request data to be display on Form B.

After I build the forms in InfoPath, the application will be deployed on a SharePoint with using the Form Services. Can somebody please let me know if there is any good book or reference that I may find all of my answers. Thanks

I'm receiving an error message when attempting to open InfoPath 2007 from home. After everything is said and done, attempting to perform the Tools>Form Options>Compatibility and enabling the option "Design a form template that can be opened in a browser or Infopath."

After entering the site's URL address and clicking OK I end up getting an error that says

"The SOAP message cannot be parsed."

I tried searching on Google without much luck, when I tried searching on the site I found this link

But no answer was given. Does anyone happen to know the cause as to why I am getting this error and unable to have the InfoPath form connect?

Create new blank form after submitting

I have a form created with InfoPath, and viewed in XMLViewForm webpart,
and in the form setting, i set that after submitting the form create another new blank form,
the form has code behind, and i excute the submit from code, but after i submit the form is closed not createing another one.

do any one knows why is that, or what is missing???

URL Issue

I have a borwser enabled Infopath form, a SharePoint list and a workflow. My workflow populates the list with the URL to the corresponding task so that I can reference the URL in a link on the form. The URL in the list is correct but for some reason when I use the data connection to the list to pull back the field with the URL, the field is populated with the URL twice, seperated by a comma. For instance, the URL in the list has "http://server/site/lists/tasks/dispform.aspx?id=349&source=/site/Shared%20Documents/Intranet%20Redirect%20Page.aspx" but when populated in the hyperlink on the form it has http://server/site/lists/tasks/dispform.aspx?id=349&source=/site/Shared%20Documents/Intranet%20Redirect%20Page.aspx,http://server/site/lists/tasks/dispform.aspx?id=349&source=/site/Shared%20Documents/Intranet%20Redirect%20Page.aspx". Since it has it twice, the source URL is not working correctly and it returns to the original area, which is undesirable.

Has anyone else ever had this issue? Please help.

If I have InfoPath on a PC and have browser enabled forms, how can I NOT have InfoPath open the forms on that machine when I open them from the document library?

Contact Select and AD Name Changes

I have a contact selector control on an InfoPath form (do to complexity, the form is client based, not web based, if that has a bearing on the discussion).

We had a user who's name was Manny Mo Jack, and they changed the name to Manny Jack. The name was updated in SharedServices1 (via profile syncing from AD). I manually removed the person from the site collection and re-added them. The name picker there, incidentally, showed as 'Manny Jack' when I re-added them.

When we open the InfoPath form and use the contact selector control, it still shows as 'Manny Mo Jack'.

Where is it reading that from? The Context receive connection is pointing to the root of the sharepoint server 'http://server'. Is it reading from AD directly? Is it reading from SharedServices1 on the sharepoint server? Is it reading from profiles in the site collection which the infopath form's main submit connection is pointing to?

Would really help to even know where it's getting it's data from to know where to go change it.

Force a Infopath form to open in browser in Task

Is there a way to force an InfoPath for to always open in the browser when the user clicks on the link on email receives from task ? The email is created automaticly. I have the correct settings on the form library (open in browser), but that only works if they are in the form library.

I create a task :

Hello, I have a textbox to list 3 valuse from another 3 textboxs. So I use concat function, each of these 3 textbox can be blank or nonblank.
Now I need to add 2 "," between these 3 valuse, or one comma between 2 values in case one of them is blank.

e.g:

3 textboxs:

Student1: Tom or blank
Student2: Lily or blank
Student3: John or blank

The concat text:

students passed the exam: Tom, Lily, John

or

students passed the exam: Lily, John (if Student1 is blank)

or

students passed the exam: (if all are blank)

Date Format in Expression Box problem

Hi There

I have a problem with using a two way property field in MOSS 2007/InfoPath 2007. I have an InfoPath form that has a two-way Date Time property, I have placed an Expression Box on the form that is bound to the Date Time field and has the format set to *dd/mm/yyyy and the locale English NZ. This is a read only date field that is populated from a SharePoint workflow and populates the value in the form ok.

The problem is that the date is always displayed in the expression box as yyyy-mm-ddT00:00:00Z (which is the value held in the XML) so it appears to be ignoring the display settings configured in the expression box.

Does anyone have any idea's as to why the date is not displayed in the format dd/mm/yyyy?

XMLFormView web part

Hi All,

I am trying to display my form in the XMLFormView web part and for that i am following the tutorial at

and in that Nick had given 2 ways to add a web part through designer and other through browser and i am following the one through browser and when i add the web part for the first time Nick mentions that we are supposed to get the error message "The form is closed", but i don't get that error message so i continue with the rest of the steps but the web part doesn't display my form.
Any idea on this?

And also i found another tutorial

So can any one provide a correct tutorial as what needs to be done and also explain the parameters in the web.config file.

No Access when submitting InfoPath form to Sharepoint

Hello, I am working on Item level permission code (Event Handler) when submitting my infopath form. The debugger seems to show a problem when I RunWithElevatedPrivlileges. I know it takes the system account but I have given the system account full Control to my list. Here is my script, it works perfectly with a Word Document. I am getting this error on a simple InfoPath form with two fields, nothing else is on the form.

How can I view and/or enter data on InfoPath forms on a SharePoint server (WSS 3.0) from a client that does not have InfoPath installed?

I have a 3-box isolated test bench setup. One box is a back-end SQL server running 2008 SVR/SQL, one is a 2008 Server running WSS 3.0, and the other is a just a test client running Vista. I installed InfoPath on the Web Server box and created a dummy test form (one or two controls), published it to a SharePoint site, and tried to view it in the client. The client could not view it and I got the following msg “This form template is not currently browser-enabled. It must either be republished as a browser-enabled form, or opened using Microsoft InfoPath 2007”

Fair enough…I republished a new dummy form with “Enable browser compatible features only” checked for the form properties and got the same result. The client could still not view the form. And yes, I was very careful to verify the form template got overwritten by checking the date/time stamp.

After some research, it appears that I need to install SharePoint Server 2007 to get the Microsoft Forms engine installed so the browser can render the InfoPath template forms (gads…a cost item I did not factor into the project). I installed SharePoint Server 2007 standard (MSDN version) on the same box that is running WSS 3.0, rebooted everything, and got the same result from the client (cannot view the form).

More research then pointed me towards SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise (holy smoke!). Ok..I installed the enterprise version of SharePoint Server 2007 and again the client could still not view the form (at least without installing InfoPath on the client).

This process has gone on for two days, with every combination of form creation and server configuration I could come up with. The bottom line is, the client cannot view/enter data on an InfoPath form that resides on the server, without InfoPath on the client. But yet, all documentation tells me that I should be able to do this by having the server render the form as browser-compatible.

What am I missing here? Any leads or tips from the community would be greatly appreciated.

I am an experienced software developer new to WSS 3.0, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer. So far I have found it frustrating to work with. Here is one example that I need help with:

With a Browser on a SharePoint site, (1)Create a new form library (2) configure it for content type management (3) from the site gallery, select the contact type (just one) that I want to populate the form library with

Within InfoPath (1) Create the form for use in the library, (2) from the tools>Dataconnections menu item, set-up (a)the sharepoint site and library, (b) how the form will be named (concatination of a couple of fields in the form) and (c) allow overwrite if file exists. (3) set up which fields in the form I want to make available to the library, (4) enable and set up the submit option.

I then publish the form to the library using the file > Publish menu option in InfoPath.

using the browser I navigate to the form library , click New to create a new form Info path opens and then displays an error dialog stating that "InfoPath cant create a new blank form as the template is invalid. If you are working from a sharepoint library you can modify the form template by clicking modity settings and columns, and then Edit Template on the Customise page".

There is a details button on the dialog box which when pressed displays the text "The processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid".

I have tried the following suggestions already but it doesn't work:

1) republish the form to the site.

2) clear the infopath local cache.

3) delete the forms library and create a new one. Then publish the form

4) created a simple form in Infopath with just one or two text box fields and published that to the form library.

Still I get the same error.

I would welcome any advice as this is on a high profile job with tight deadlines - thanks

I did a form infopath with one date, then i publish that in sharepoint and i have a column with this date. It is the type date in infopath, but in sharepoint it appera with date time type, but apparently you see the date normal.

the problem is that i'm doing a new form that need this library and the column date, but it received the value like a date time.

according to this post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointinfopath/thread/0e4e2ffc-e4aa-4dd2-b34f-6f43eb3c0680/ all that is needed is to register the two dll's on a client workstation. I have tried this in my environment and it does not work, tried in both the system32 directory and the downloaded program files directory. The dll's register fine, but when I open a browser enabled form that has the signatrue contol IE says that the active-x control needs to be enabled and to go into manage addons and enable the control. Unfortuantly in my environment our users can't do this, but to make things worse the digital sig controls aren't in the list to be activated. Is there something else that needs to be done besides just registering the dll.

Number of postbacks, 76, has exceeded 75, the maximum allowable value per session

I haven't change anything. Why this starts happening occasionally ?

Doc Information Panel : Data Sources not on same domain won't connect

I am setting up a word document to populate variables according to the Document information panel (infopath) values at the top of the page.

I have added a data source to the Infopath form of the DIP, referencing a list on the site, and converting that connection to a udcx file in a data connection library which is also on the site. But, when i go to use the DIP functionality i get an error like this:

The Document Information Panel template could not conect to data sources because they are on a differnt domain.

How can I prevent InfoPath People Picker from allowing external email addresses?

I've have an InfoPath form for a workflow and one of the users has noticed that if they enter an external email address in the people picker field it gets validated and doesn't raise an error. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

To reproduce:
- Upload a document to a document library
- Run the SharePoint built-in Approval workflow.
- In the Approvers field enter me@randomdomain.com
- Press tab twice to move to the next field and the Approver field passes validation.

Can I stop this from happening? If I try the same thing on the standard SharePoint Task list it does not allow external emails in the people picker - so it seems to be related to InfoPath.

I created a form within infopath and setup the form to submit the data to a sharepoint document library (lets call it reports library) where the data is stored. I want to create a second form within infopath that uses a data connection to the retrieve the previously submitted form data from the sharepoint form library. I read this article (http://blog-sharepoint.blogspot.com/2009/07/using-secondary-infopath-data.html) and tried to retrieve data from the Sharepoint form library but to no avail. I can display the controls on the infopath form but when I try to preview the infopath form none of the data displays. I made an attempt to publish the infopath form to a new document library to see if that made any difference. No dice. Is there a way to pull submitted infopath data into a new infopath form? Ideally I'd like to show info as a repeating table in the infopath form.

My client wants me to build an infopath timesheet workflow so that once started in MOSS intranet portal, the form is emailed to the approver. The approver will not have Infopath on his/her machine. And the approver should be able to approve the form within outlook wihtout opening Infopath( or having infopath rather) and update the workflow status in the sharepoint library.

Is this possible. any suggestions and links to implement this will be helpful

InfoPath 2003 is deployed in MOSS 2007. Some users are facing below issue when they are opening infopath form.

Removing Promoted Property Values

Hi There

I have a simple Form library set up in MOSS 2007 that accepts InfoPath forms, the InfoPath form contains a Date Picker and a TextBox control. The form is Fully Trusted and Signed and published to MOSS as a Managed Template and is browser enabled with both data items as two-way promoted properties.

My Form Library now has the InfoPath Form as a content type and I can open a new form and submit it and MOSS displays the two properties in its List, I can right click and edit properties and change the values and they are reflected in the InfoPath form. All good so far....

Does anyone know the reason why MOSS 2007 doesn't save the users changes to a property if the text box or the date is cleared?

I have double checked the InfoPath form and the Site Columns and both allow blanks.

Hi,
I have a moss form library with with an infopath form published on it. Some of the published columns are created by merging 2 or more data sources (merged while publishing). I want to clear the values of some of these merged columns in all the submitted forms. There are more than 2000 forms submitted in the library.

Is there a way to achieve this easily?

I want to fill out an InfoPath created form in the browser and when the form is submitted, have the permissions of the submitted form set to read/write only for the person who submitted the form. Is this possible to do this in an automated way, perhaps through Infopath publishing options?? Or do I have to set the permissions manually for each form after they are generated and submitted?

I was hoping that you could help, what Im trying to do is store the information inputted into an InfoPath form and directly export to excel, in the future this will be a third party application that is used within the business.

Im aware a method for the moment would be to promote the fields within InfoPath and export within the SharePoint list. But I was wondering if it was possible to export directly? Use of a button?

Hi All,

I got stuck in a issue since last few days, the problem is with InfoPath form.
I created a infopath form that will retrieve user information from AD when it loads. For this I have used C Sharp code behind. When we preview this code in the InfoPath is working fine (showing all information), but when we publish this form in SharePoint portal, it comming as a blank form. It's opening in browser, but emply, there are no data inside.
Here is the code that we use :
