SharePoint 2010 public facing website doesn't work properly with SSL enabled

Hi,
I have SP 2010 public facing website with SSL enabled. Whenever I try to open the context menu with https protocol, it's not responding to that actions. It displays the script error message in IE saying "Access is denied. core.js Line 2". Everything works fine, if I use http protocol. Can someone please provide the reason and resolution for this issue?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.
I haven't configured any host name entries for web application and only my web application is configured for SSL on that server.

This is caused by alternate access mappings being misconfigured.
- Are you using SSL offload? If so you'll need both HTTP and HTTPS setup for your public zone URL with the same internal (HTTP) address
- If you're not using SSL offload make sure you have both internal and public URL set as the full HTTPS url
