AnswerSharePoint2007 - Explorer View not available

I took over the maintenance of a SharePoint2007 site and I am having issues with one of the document librairies on a production server. I need to upload a large number of files into this library but the "Upload Multiple File" option is not available and I can't get to the Explorer View.

I ruled out an issue on the client side, because, from the same client machine, I can access the the "Upload Multiple File" option on the test version of the document library, which is hosted on a separate server.

I had a look at the settings of these 2 document libraries, but they seem identical. In addition, I could not find any setting that would prevent the "Upload Multiple File" option from being displayed.

Is there a global setting in SharePoint that prevents multiple uploads from being available in all document libraries? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this as I am running out of ideas and I don't want to upload 1000+ files one by one...

    Thanks

    Hello,

I’ve experienced the same issue as yours, the cause for that is the “Enable Client Integration” option under authentication provider setting of current web application is set to “no”.

The solution for it is to go to Central Administration-> Application Management > Authentication Providers, then select the web application which hosts your document library and click default to enter Edit Authentication page. There you should set “Enable Client Integration” option to “yes”. After that, problem will be solved.

    Regards,

    Jerry

First off, I would strongly advise against mass transferring using the Explorer View, for starters. In this manner, it carries no information except the actual file and its name.

You said you made a test library on a separate server; did you try making another library on the same server, to see if it brought about the same issues? Surely this would tell you whether it's the server, or the library itself, although, to be fair, I don't know what would be causing you difficulty on the library side, but it's worth checking out, and should narrow down your scope.

We are using IE as our browser and there is a suitable version of Office as I can access the Upload Multiple File option on the test version of the site, which is hosted on a separate server.

Okay, so the same exact document library, on the test site, which is on a separate server, has no issues? Can you upload just one file on the site that's presenting these issues? Maybe it's a permissions issue.

Nate, the same exact document library, on the test server has no issues. Also, it is not a permissions issue, as I can upload files one at a time.

Also, this issue applies to all document libraries on this site. I can't view the "Upload Multiple File" option and I can't get to the Explorer View. Is there a site-wide or server-wide setting that would prevent these from being available?

The only time I've seen an issue getting to the Explorer view it was an IE setting on the client.  It prevented them from accessing the view on any library not just one.  Seems strange that one would work and one would not.
