Hi All,
I am extremely excited about the release of SharePoint 2013 but got disappointed as soon as I did not Windows 7 in supported OS list.
I even tried to change the config file in the Setup folder. but it is still giving me the same error...
Thanks

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 2:52 PMIt would help if you could actually post the error. Are you running SP1?

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 12:42 AMYes, the software requirements for SharePoint Foundation 2013 Preview list Windows 8 Release Preview and Windows Server 2008 R2. But there is also an "undefined" mentioned there. I'd really like to know what that means, Windows 7 maybe.
Kind Regards Bjoern

From How to: Set up an on-premises development environment for apps for SharePoint
Installation of SharePoint 2013 Preview is supported only on Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 x64 or Windows Server 2008 R2. If you want to develop apps for SharePoint for SharePoint 2013 Preview on Windows 7, you can sign up for an Office 365 Developer Site and develop apps remotely. See How to: Set up an environment for developing apps for SharePoint on Office 365 for the instructions to create this kind of development environment.

Hi Rob,
I guess MS will comeback with Installation of SharePoint 2013 on Windows 7 and Windows 8. If I remember the in the Last release i.e. SharePoint 2010 they came with Windows 7 installation in RC. I hope they com back

I've got confirmed from the SPYam Yammer network, that there is no client os support for the SharePoint 2013 Preview, whether it's the Foundation or Server version.
A good alternative though as a startup is to get an Office 365 Developer account, then get the Napa Developer tools from the app store, create a project and work on it in your local Visual Studio 2012 RC on Windows 7 or 8.

Unfortunately, it looks like the answer is no. SharePoint 2013 will not support installations on client operating systems.
