I made several changes to a list in Designer 2007 and when I try to run the new form, I have lost all of my formatting, ie. color, spacing, etc.  What in the world have I done???

Don't make changes to out of the box pages or forms. Always create a copy of them and then do your test in that page separately. Not sure what happened in your case. Here's a guide on how to create customized form for your list using SharePoint Designer.

Is your form still functional, even though your formatting is lost? If you can narrow down the issue/impact, it might help get a better answer.

Thank you so much for your response!  I did create a copy to test with; have learned lessons in the past regarding this.  My form is still functional.  The dispform and the newform both look perfect.  All fields are there, but when I launch the view, I see the shell without the formatting.

A quick bit of history... they are running WSS V. 3 front end with a WSS V.7 Designer.  It's a nightmare.  I will use the documentation you sent to me and see if I can recreate this old wheel.  Thanks again!!  Wish me luck!

    Good Morning!

Yes, I have saved my changes about a million times!  ;)  I created a test copy, made the changes (added new fields to a custom form), edited the dispform and newform.  Everything looks beautiful, but when I flip back over to my new view and try to launch it, I have only the shell of the form with the fields.  The form is functional, but it is not pulling data into the 'newform' (ie. with headers, colors, etc).

This company is running a WSS V.3 backend with a WSS V.7 Designer.  It's hinky.  I'll keep trying.  Thank you for your response.  If you can think of anything else I am overlooking, please let me know.

    Have a great day!

    Carla,

what do you mean by "The dispform and the newform both look perfect. All fields are there, but when I launch the view, I see the shell without the formatting". Are you referring to the form that's used for entering data or are you talking about a view? They're separate items.

    Pman...

I am obviously having a hard time explaning myself...sorry about that.  I created a custom view with all of my fields on there.  It looks fine.  When I go back into my SP site to launch the form for entering the data, it does not display like the NewForm.aspx.

    Thanks.

Sorry Carla but now I'm even more confused. May be someone else can jump into this thread.

Do you think you can post screenshots of the issue somewhere public? That might help figuring out the issue.
