Is it possible to share "quick launch" globally between SP Sites?

Question

When you define 'Quick Lanuch' under the Look and Feel section of a site, it will only show for that one site. I want to be able to show 'Quick Launch' links linked from other SP sites. In this instance, the quick launch will share common links shared between sites. A good example is to share external links which will be the same for all sites.

In my environment, we have about 12 sites which look similar but are for different departments. If I were to add an external link to one site's quick launch, I will have to manually change them for all other sites. Not efficient if I miss a link or if I have to add 10 links or so.

I think (but I did not tested) you can use a combination of:
1) Delegate control QuickLaunchDataSource
2) Scope of the feature = Site
