Filters in the view of the custom list

Hello all,

I have two AD groups group1 and group2, both of them having two users each >> group1 > groupuser1, groupuser2 and group2 > groupuser3, groupuser4.
I have a custom list in MOSS named as performanceschedule.

I need to create view(s) that if a user from groupuser1 views the list, he can view the items created by himself and his groupfellows and not the items created by the users of the other group(s).

I tried to make a filter but couldn't make a proper filter.

One possible solution part can be that if the querystring is involved, but its not necessary.

I am engaged in a project where the client wants to use Sharepoint due to its 'superior collaboration features'. The client currently has CA Clarity Program & Portfolio Management (PPM) and intends to replace the clarity PPM eventually with a Sharepoint solution.

1. Can someone please give an example of collaboration features in Sharepoint that are unique and provides a good example of sharepoint capabilities.
2. Is there any comparison document available that will show how sharepoint is superior to Clarity PPM ?

Backup/Restore Ects ?

Has anyone tried to backup/restore sharepoint ects? I have a one server config for this ECTS/ADAM. I am in the process of testing the recovery process for this server. Anyone that has recovered a simular setup please let me know what the steps are. Once I am finished I will place a document here for everyone.

ETCS Site External User 1st Login is not redirecting correctly to the changeqa.aspx

My installation of ECTS has recently stopped sending 1^st time external users to the profile update page. A first time user browsing to:

https://extranet.mycompany.com/Pages/default.aspx

Will get the forms base authentication login page with the following URL returned to the browser:

https://extranet.mycompany.com/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fPages%2fdefault.aspx

This looks to be correct and the user is able to login without issue and is sent to the destination URL but will get back the following URL in their browser at the destination page:

https://extranet.mycompany.com/Pages/default.aspx/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/changeqa.aspx?ReturnUrl=/Pages/default.aspx

It looks like it is improperly formatting the URL returned to the user by not removing the /Pages/default.aspx from the end of the URL so that the _layouts/ExternalCollaboration/changeqa.aspx can redirect them to the profile update page. If I manually change the URL to:

https://extranet.mycompany.com/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/changeqa.aspx?ReturnUrl=/Pages/default.aspx

All works as it should.

We had a major change mid way through the project by having to change the URL that we were using to extranet.mycompany.com. I believe that I was able to change this without issue as the site is working in most ways as far as I can tell. I can’t verify whether the update profile redirect was broken before or after the URL change but my guess is that it could have broken something.

I have verified all is well with the newly created ADAM account and that the eatmuPwdGenerated is correctly being set to True on user creation and False once the profile is updated.

The ECTS install is on a MOSS 2007 SP1 on a Windows 2003 (x86) R2 SP2 server with ADAM from the R2 install and ECTS version 1.0. We have a web front and and a seperate SQL server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ECTS - External users get logged out after 20min

I am not sure where this settings of 20min comes from. In IIS6-> Websites-> HomeDirectory-> Configuration-> Options i have the timeout set for 60min. In webconfig of the external site the sessionState timeout is set for 60min . in Central Admin the session state is configured for 60min. The ISA timeout setting is 60min. With all these, the adam users are requested to re-log in after 20 min of being idle. Is there any other setting that i miss?
I am using ECTS /ADAM for FBA users.

MOSS Project Tasks vs. Task and Connect to Outlook

When I create a "Project Task" list using the 'IT Teeam Workspace' templates, it creates a parent content type of "Item." When I create a "Task" list using the same templates, it creates a parent content type of "Task." The "Task" template has the "Connect to Outlook" feature as an action; however, the "Project Task" list does not. I like the functionality of linking all related tasks to a project, but need these tasks to migrate over to users tasks in Outlook 2007. It seems like the "project tasks" would have the same functionality. Am I missing some set-up step or is there a way to do that?

Hi, This is my first post in this forum. Looking for your help!

I am an admin of my team's SharePoint Teamsite under a global organisation. My team size is 11, in 3 different countries. It is our weekly work to submit a weekly report to our manager in word 2003 format. We used to send emails to get this done and now I want to achieve automation for this process. The general process is like this:

1. Any team member can create New Document in sharepoint ibrary (Weekly Update), key in their input to the template and save it.
2. The manager will review all this week's reports and may make necessary modification.

Few requests from my manager: (these are complusary, not optional)
Rule 1. Manager can view all items. Team member can only see his work in Library list, but not other colleagues' work.
Rule 2. Team member can edit his work many times before it has been approved.

I have tried in my site, but met few problems:
1. When individual report is approved, it becomes public. But manager still want to keep it confidential.
2. When the user access the approved report (read-only), the status become pending again.

We do not keen in the workflow in this case, as it's our routing and quite simple. We don't want email to remind us and treat it as task. It seems simple but i did solve it well :( Look forward to your suggestions!

Hi all,

I am looking to implement a SharePoint Extranet for sharing and collaboration between internal and external users. We have identified ECTS as a means of delivering this. Currently we have 1 server located in the DMZ (not part of a domain) which houses SQL, MOSS and ADAM for us.

There are three issues which I cannot quite reconcile with the current environment. Please bear with me as I am new to several of these technologies :)

Outgoing Email - Our exchange server lies within the internal corporate domain. For us to be able to send external users their passwords, clearly this needs to be configured. However, since our extranet server is in the DMZ and not part of a domain, how can we configure access/communication between the two?
Internal AD Profile Import - This ties closely to #1. Since AD lies within the corporate domain, how can we configure access so that our internal AD can send user profile information to Shared Services? From what I understand it is not a best practice to install a DC in the DMZ and make it its own domain, so how can I configure a trust relationship between these two?
SSO - To prevent users from having to sign in multiple times, we would obviously like to configure Single Sign On (SSO). From what I have heard and understand, however, this requires that the server be a part of a domain. How do I get around this as I would like to keep my server in the DMZ and not a part of a domain?

I appreciate any help you guys can be and I apologize if any of these questions are obvious or common sense - I am just beginning to understand these technologies.

Internal AD Users accessing Sharepoint site and ECTS

I have seen posts on this site referring to this question. What I have not seen is a definitive answer. Has anyone made this work? What I have:
WSS 3.0 setup with ADAM and SQL all on same server. Have internal/external(ECTS) working. Now how can I get it so that my internal users can access these sites with their AD user ID and password?

Would be nice to get some instructions on how this is done. What I have seen referred to is that of extending the site one more time and then pointing the security back to the AD. Has anyone made this work? Did they use port 443 for the extended second site for internal users?

Was hoping to find someone that has done this and made it work.

Is there a setting that allows me to increase the max number of external users managed by ECTS? I have this upperlimit set in ADAM to 2000, but everytime we reach 1000external users, ECTS can not manage , it doesn't add any new users. Does anyone know where is this limit set and how i can change it?

I'd like to use Sharepoint to improve document handling and issue tracking for a software development process. The participants include from 1 to 3 reviewers, 1 to 6 developers, and other interested persons. The team is global.

Starting from a pdf requirement doc, developers produce designs in Word and Excel docs, then implement and test C# using Visual Studio. Testing generates (large) log files that have to be kept with the other stuff.

There are four main steps in the development process, and there is a formal review at each step. As a result of each review, the reviewers update a Word doc with summary issues and also enter detail questions and suggestions as comments in the developer Word and Excel files. Review comments on lines of code are also entered into the review report doc. Discussion of the review issues is usually done via Outlook email. The Word and Excel files must be produced from templates.

With the exception of email, all of these files are kept and updated in a version control system, and periodically copied to share for access outside version control.

All this works pretty well, but only because all the participants know and follow rules. There are a lot of moving parts and no simple way to track issue resolution over all of them.

I'm wondering if Sharepoint could do some or all of the following:

1 House all of the docs that they are easily linked and easy to browse.
2 Have an integrated view of all the docs and comments, instead of having to open each doc in its native app
3 Produce a unified list of comments from all docs and files
4 Track the resulting discussion thread to resolution
5 Enter/update/view attributes for reviewer comments (e.g., priority, status, tracking #)

Alerts not working for ADAMusers

I am having problems with alerts for FBA users (adam users provisioned through ECTS). I have an extended MOSS2007 application which uses dual authentication, AD for internal users and ADAM for external clients. Alerts work fine for AD users. For external users, they only get the initial notification that an alert was created, and no other emails after that. If an AD user and an ADAM user subscribe for alerts on a document (or a library, or a list), only the AD user receives the email. (the 2 users have the same level of rights, the alerts were set for the internal user on the internal url, for the external user on the external url, to avoid authentication issues). Here are the troubleshooting I steps went thru:
-If i create an SPD workflow to email the owner of a file when the item gets changed, then the adam user receives the email when his items are modified. So other emails are sent out to the adam users , only the alerts dont work.
-I checked with the Exchange admin, there are no emails waiting in the queue and he also verified that the IP of the moss server has been added to Allowed Relays .
-In the database i can see the alerts in immedsubscriptions and schedsubscriptions.

-the Status of the Timer job for Immediate Alerts is always successful.
-the stsadm getproperty returns the right values
-the ECTS configuration webpart has the correct smtp setting, same as the outgoing email settings in central admin.

Alerts Not Working for Sub Folders

Mainly need/want to confirm that if a user sets up an alert on say the top directory of a "Shared Document" library. Any time anything is put into a Sub Folder they should get notified correct?

If this is how it is supposed to work... are there any specific logs or anything I could look at to determine why it may not be working?

The IT folks at my public health care team related site tell me that it is not possible to set things up so that flags, dates or text change can occur to indicate there is a new reply to a post. A flag appears indicating a new thread but not for a reply to a thread. It would be helpful if members when they are viewing the site can tell which areas and threads have new replys. Any help would be appreciated.

Strange problem. I am working with sharepoint 2003 teamsites. I created one webpart page and saved in a document library . I added two webparts to that page . one is custom list and other one a document library which has 4 folders . When i click on folder in the document lib, the webpart page title has been modified with the folder name and view id(foldername & View={12hgksd803jsl}). Why the title bar of the page is changing with folder name. Please help me on this. Advance thanks

outlook integration with sharepoint site

Hi,

    I have a requirement to integrate outlook to sharepoint extranet site.

    My project manager is working on one specific project A. He is also involved in other projects as well. But all these projects are running at different locations. He is entering all his meeting schedules in Project A's outlook. Now he has created his own sharepoint site to maintain all his tasks in different projects . He wanted to integrate his Project A's outlook to this site so his colleagues from different projects can see his outlook and schedule the meeting accordingly.

   Anyone has any idea regarding this?

'no web parts found' error message

I have a user who has 'Full Control' permissions on a WSS 3.0 sub-site. However, when they go to add web parts to their page, they get a 'no web parts found' message for the All Web Parts section of the dialog box. I've checked the web parts gallery on the top level site and it is still inheriting it's permissions from the top-level site. Publishing has never been turned on for this site. I've read posts where people have manually changed the permissions for the web part gallery or have exported web parts and then re-imported them to make them show up. Both solutions feel like 'bandaids' to me and I'd prefer to get to the root of the problem. Does anyone have suggestions?

When using Site Content and Structure to copy/move list items to a new list within the same site, which method is best. Will I receive different results if I select copy vs move?

Background and Previous Steps:
The customer would like to move items from a custom list to a Task list to receive alerts when tasks are assigned.
I create a new task list, created new columns based on the custom list. Then used Site Content and Structure to copy items to the target list. As a result, the target (Task list) had duplicate column names, missing data and no views where copied over.

ECTs Login.aspx redirects not working for ExternalCollaboration User Maintenance pages

Using External Collaboration Toolkit, latest version, WSS and ADAM I have found that the redirects from the login page are not occuring. It seems that all the aspx pages in the layouts/externalCollaboration folder cannot be accessed from these redirects. I am using the format for my sites as instructed:

HTTPS:/WEBSITE/sites/sitename

These pages can all be accessed from within the sites once thge external user is in. It is impossible to see the actual redirect URLs from the loginpage since they are all hardcoded. All the user sees is 'page not found'. HELP! the only way iam getting around this ist to go to adam and change password, say that the password was 'not generated' and go to the home page of the site by re-submitting the url after login and completing the password question and answer and profuile info for each user!

Can I make copies of these pages somwhere else so that they are found - or will some sort of creative alternate access mapping fix this problem?

LCS users can't see Presence status of OCS users

OCS R2 users can see the presence status of both LCS2005 and OCS R2 users, but LCS2005 users can't see presence status of OCS R2 users.

Cannot checkout document when SSL enabled

Hi,

I have a problem. When there is SSL enabled on IIS and users are logged via HTTPS, they are not able to checkout documents. The error message is "link object is not set to instance object". When they log via HTTP, they are able to checkout documents.

We are running WSS 3.0 SP2, Windows Server 2008 Standard, IIS 7.0.

Any help is higly appreciated.

DataSheet view and content types

Hi,

I have a problem with the datasheet view and I would just like to confirm my findings.

We have a document library with multiple content types. Each content type may have some extra columns which may be required.

If the list is opened in datasheet view it appears to me that ALL columns that are required in at least one content type, independent of the content type of the selected row, are now treated as required columns.

Content Type A:
Columns: A, B, C, D
Required: A, D

Content Type B:
Columns: A, B, E, F
Required: A, F

If i edit a row, it appears that I have to fill out columns A, D and F no matter the content type on the current row.

Am I correct? I will conduct more tests on this, but if someone has a quick answer, I would appreciate it.

MOSS 2007 and Exchange 2007 Public Folder Calendar

We have a common calendar on Exchange 2007 in the public folders. We want to intergarte this calendar with a MOSS 2007 clandar list on our SharePoint Intranet portal. Does anyone know how to set up 2-way communication between a public folder calendar and a SP list so that users can make entries either in SP or Outlook and have boith calendars reflect the updates?

it's very clear and easy to integrate Outlook (calendars - contacts - tasks - etc.) with SharePoint 2007, but what we need is to integrate Sharepoint 2007 with Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007.

we need the contacts included in the Business Contact Manager database to be displayed in a Sharepoint site how can this be done or if there is a ready amde webpart for this from where can i get it?

Has anyone tried installing ECTS after you already have a Sharepoint extranet configured? I came across this software, but I already have the database, SSP's, and ADAM configured. Do I need to scrap it and start over?

When I edit a document in MS Word and use the Shared Workspace task pane to add a task, I get a drop down with a set list of users for the "Assigned to" field. I can't add to it and it doesn't seem the availabe people even have permission to the site!

Have anyone of you come across the requirement of formatting the answer type for a Survey List in MOSS using UI being the site owner? It is more of selecting two answer type for a single question.

For example : I want to add a question with the answer of type choice (radio button) with a mutiline text box for comment area which is the part of the same question. (NOT Fill in choice option given out of box).

I'm running a small web farm w/ Moss 2007 and Sql 2005 and recently we found a need for a customized calendar. I set up a calendar list and customized the columns. Everything appeared to be fine. I had users input data into the lists. We're using the calendar for telling who is on call on a particular day. Now today, after no changes I get an exception error (after I turned on debugging) when trying to display the calendar view. I can view the list in other views no problem. I recreated the calendar and imported the data from one list into another and I have the exact same problem. Here is the output from the stack trace:

I examined the log files from the web front end and I see a couple of errors related to this:

I have around 159 items in the list, it’s my understanding the only hard limit is on items in a list related to calendars is 1000/month.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
