We do this in 2 ways:

    1. Use SQL reporting services and matrix reports, use the integrated mode of reporting services (SP2).

    2. Use the Office Web Components, there are a number of resources on how to get these to work in WSS 3.0 (or MOSS), check Joel Olsens log for one option.

Thanks for your response there Braden, it was very helpful.  But considering that if you have SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (with WSS 2.0) with MS Office 2003 installed only and the Data Cube available is built with SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services.

Are all those systems and applications compatible with each other?  If not, what needs to be done other than the obvious solution of upgrading MS Office, SharePoint, and WSS?

    Thanks,
    Thien

There are web parts for the SQL Reporting Services to use the matrix reports I mentioned.

OWC works great with SQL 2005 as long as the clients are running the driver for 05.

Office 2003 will work fine with the exports as well from OWC or SQL Reporting.
