  • Installing Visual Studio 2010 RC if you’ve already installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 and you don’t want to flatten your box

If you evaluated Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2, you will be happy to hear that no reformatting is required. Simply open the “uninstall Programs” (or previously “Add/Remove Programs”) and uninstall all Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 programs Then you are free to install one of the Visual Studio 2010 RC offerings.

However if you wish to complete clean your machine of Visual Studio and do not intend to use the RC then we’ve published helpful instructions on how to uninstall Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2, in the Beta2 Readme under the Uninstall section.

In order to help facilitate discussions on the forums. It is very helpful for people to include their setup logs as well as info to help us help you. Please follow the instructions below:

Step 1. It would be super helpful if you could provide the following information at the beginning of your post:

    1. Include the Product name (aka Visual Studio Ultimate 2010 Beta 2)
    2. Where did you get it? (web site path)
    3. What other Visual Studio or expression products do you have installed?
    4. If you are using OS virtualization, please tell us which product? (aka Hyper-V, Virtual PC, etc.)
    5. Which OS and language are you using?

Step 2: Run the collect tool to collect and gather logs. Then post these logs on the internet. Reference the link in your forum post.
