QuestionSlow First Query

    Hi,

    I just installed Search Server 2008 on both 2008 R2 x64 and 2003 x32 bit.
    On both installations I have the same problem:

    - Opening the main search page takes some seconds (10 seconds or so)
    - Opening the page again is fast. This is even if I use a different browser or I force not using the cache
    - First search will take some seconds as well. Next search will take considerably less. Changing to different results page is fast

    If the server idles for some seconds (30 seconds or so), it gets slow again.
    While this 10 seconds sound like a small amount of time, people are now used to the super-fast internet search experience and complain that a local search is slower than their preferred search engine on the web.

    Is there something I can do to speed this up?

    Btw, server is a 2.4Ghz Quad, with SAN storage and 4 gb of RAM.

    Hello
    over one year ago we had a thread about it;
    It seems that servers fall asleep;
    I encountered this problem too and I explained that I use a little script done with autoit that do a simple query each for examples 1 minute, so they stayup.....
