Windows Identity Foundation and Open ID

What is the relationship between Windows Identity Foundation and OpenID? I want to use OpenID to authenticate users using Windows Identity Foundation, is this a possible scenario? If so can someone point me to some examples.
Plus how does DotNetOpenAuth fit into this?
