Lee's already done better than that at www.introtorx.com - all samples are executable in Linqpad already, with detailed descriptions.

@Robb, I will try to create a small sample library that you can download for linqpad. I owe Joe Albahari that anyway.
Let me know that kind of recipes that you are looking for to fill this cookbook, and I could look at doing them first.
