Powering Kinect Sensor

I remember I attended the product fair of Microsoft. In the robotics booth I saw a robot with the kinect sensor on top. I don't remember any power cord.
I was wondering how one can provide power to the kinect sensor without the use of the power extension? Is there anyway that the Kinect can be powered by the robot ?? I am using iRobot Create!
Any help would be appreciated.

I can't give you explicit instructions (because you will be violating your warranty), but it is easy to figure out :-)
The Kinect uses 12V and up to 1.08A. You can read that off the power pack that comes with it.
If you have a regulated 12V supply somewhere on your robot and you know a bit about electronics...

P.S. Product Fair is an internal event and should not be discussed outside Microsoft.

Saturday, October 08, 2011 2:25 AMIt could be powered by directly connecting the sensor to a power supply for the other electronics. like the the webcams used on FIRST FRC robots. You just need to separate which is the ground wire and the 12v power wire and connect them to the right power supply.

Monday, October 10, 2011 3:54 PMThank you! I bought a circuit board that gets attached to the irobot cargo bay and connected the kinect wires to that. now it gets its power from iRobot create.

Hi. Sorry for bumping an old thread. Which board did you buy (I don't want to build the regulator myself). Thanks!
