Adjust Remaining Work in 2010

Question

Hi,

Is it possible that the remaining work for a task reported in timesheet/my tasks will be edited by the Approver? It was possible in 2003.

In Adjust Actuals the remaining work can't be edited, neither in the Approval Center.

If the user is a member of a security Group and Category that grants the user the Adjust Timesheet permission (such as the Resource Managers group, for example), then the user can adjust the Remaining Work.  What the user must do is to navigate to the Approval Center page and then click the name of the timesheet submitted which requires an adjustment to the Remaining Work.  The system will open the timesheet for editing and/or approval by the user in question.  He/she can click in the Remaining Work field and adjust the number for any task updated in the timesheet by the resource.

 

UNFORTUNATELY, and much to my dismay, editing the Remaining Work in the resource�??s submitted timesheet WILL NOT adjust the Remaining Work in the resource�??s task update for the task in question.  Furthermore, the project manager CANNOT adjust the Remaining Work for a resource unless he/she performs the revision by opening the actual Microsoft Project file.

 

So, based on my experimentation, I would recommend that you teach your PMs to simply adjust the Remaining Work in the Task Usage view or Resource Usage view in the Microsoft Project file.  Sorry for the bad news and I hope this helps.

As you mentioned, I can edit it but not "send" it, so it's quite useless.

Hope they fix it some time.
