    Hi,

I try to connect an Datalogic Heron Barcode Scanner via POS for .NET to my dotnet Application under Windows 7. I run into the same Prblems as described in

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/posfordotnet/thread/62a95674-df5e-4909-b90f-c89cb043f520

described. If I use the precompiled TestApp.exe everything works fine. If I compile (Tested with VS 2008 and 2010) the (unchanged) Sample Project and run the generated TestApp.exe if got the described Exception. The Same Effect with an other Testapplication. Changing the security dosent work.

    Thanks for Help

    Hello Gregor,

I am running W7 64b, Pos for .Net 1.12, actually testing Heron D130 barcode scanner. I have no problem to run with my compiled version of TestApp. I did not change any security settings, just running VS as administrator. Build is set to x86 target architecture and using .Net 2.0. What OPOS drivers for Heron scanner do you use? I am using R96-9279.msi - Datalogic OPOS 1.12 windows driver, but it is also not without problems.

First of all I set the scanner to behave as USB-IBM-Hand Held. Then I open USBHHScanner device (also posible to use HandScanner), claim and enable. Then I checked DataEventEnable and DecodeData checkboxes. I am scanning barcodes and I see decoded data on the screen, but after 7 to 20 scans I get no data, can not disable device, after try to release the app will crash. When I restart application, I am not able to work with scanner and get any data from it. When I unplug and plug usb cable then I can repeat the whole process but always with the same result.

Does anybody have some suggestion what I do wrong? I tried workaround and release after 3 scans and reopen, it does not help, after about 15 scans in total I have the same situation again.

    Thanks for help,

    Michal

Michal>You are very luckier than CD443 and I!

I have tried OPOS, JavaPOS and now POS for .NET but I always got failure when clicking "claim".

And yet, I am on Windows XP SP2 but not Vista or Seven.

I got the same issue here. After 10 to 20 scans using  USB-IBM-Hand Held mode the the DualTest.exe utility that the Datalogic provided hangs!!!

By the way I installed also the "SU-DLS-USB-COMDriver64b" (the USD device driver) which is currently R96-9478.msi. and same platform as Michel Valenta (W7 64b, Pos for .Net 1.12)

I notice that whenever I unplug the scanner and plug it again, it works fine again. My application does not hang anymore. But again after a few scan it will turn back to hangging again. So I need to re-plug it. But this is stupid work-around. The DataLogic support team does not reply from my mails..

I think they donot fully support this scanner (Heron) on OPOS Driver.. I just notice that they don't have OPOS for .NET or JAVAPOS, just OLE for POS and OLE is kinda old technolgy...
