On August 16th and 17th, a group of us from Microsoft joined up with the good folks at the University of Virginia CS department to host the Phoenix Summer Workshop, held on the UVA grounds in Charlottesville, VA. The workshop materials span the range from an introduction to Phoenix IR up through advanced topics like using LTCG to perform large-scale program analysis.

We're pleased to announce that the the workshop materials are now freely available to download:

    https://connect.microsoft.com/Phoenix/Downloads/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=8300

    The download includes:

    • powerpoint (and pdf) slides from the 6 technical sessions, the contest session, and the wrapup session
    • a step-by-step exercise guide
    • approximately 15 hands-on exercises.

The workshop was designed for use with the July 2007 SDK (it will also probably work just fine with the March 2007 RDK).

As always, we value your feedback and welcome any and all questions.

Awesome work!  From what I've read so far, the materials are professional quality and easy to understand.  It's great that these materials have been made available to the public for free.  It seems clear that Phoenix will be a solid base for the development of future software analysis tools.

    Keep up the great work.

    Great material...

I think it is more useful for the newbies like me than the CGO tutorial...

    Thanks.
