Windows Media Player

I recently purchased a new desk top with Windows 7 and windows media player 12 already instilled on it. When I try to play my music files I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Also, when I attempt to move music files to to the player the following message appear: "windows media player error code C00D11D2" and "windows media player can't access file." What should I do to fix this problem? Thanks.
