Proposed Answer [MS-SKYPE] - asking for it

    Hi,

are there any plans to document the skype protocol within the open specification efforts run by Microsoft?

I read the next version of Windows is likely to have skype 'built-in' by default - so from a interoperability perspective the skype protocol would qualify.

So, if you plan to publish skype protocol docs within the open specification umbrella, when to expect the first version?

If you do not plan to publish a documentation of the skype protocol, please let me know why it does not qualify.

    Thanks

    msosilover,

Thank you for your inquiry.  Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype has not closed yet.  Until that happens it would be premature for us to discuss any potential future product plans for Skype

Hi, according to skype, skype is a division of Microsoft now. Will you publish skype protocol specs?, if so when to expect the first set of documentation. If not, why does skype not qualify. Thanks

    Msosilover,

Final decisions have not yet been reached about future Skype product plans, so we can’t answer this question at this time.

    Hi,

given it is six months now that Microsoft paid some (american metrics) billions for skype, I really wonder how come there are no final plans about future skype products.

In fact, skype is a product already, so why does this product not qualify for the protocol documentation?, do you plan to abandon skype?

    Hi Msosilover,

As we noted previously, final decisions have not yet been reached about future Skype product plans, so we can’t answer this question at this time.  Once we are able to, we will of course do so publicly.

    Hi,

while I do not understand why future products are a point, given there is a product already, I'd let this rest if you could simply update the thread once there is decision.

    Hi,

given skype was just rolled out as windows update via wsus, I think we can assume there is a  product/product plan.

So, when can I expect Microsoft to provide the protocol specification for skype?

    Msosilover,

Thank you for your continued interest in this topic.  If our future plans develop such that we decide to document publicly current or future “Skype” protocols, we will update this thread.
