The remote share would actually be a binary host to several nodes. This way I can centralize my files to enable easier patching plus the advantages of having a reduced footprint. I envision eventually having binaries, logs and configuration files as these shared files.

Is there a way to do this? My preliminary investigation into this reveals what is probably a permissions issue with having a service attempting to start on one machine with its binaries on another. I've tried with NFS also and apparently the Microsoft NFS enforces file locking, which, of course, forces another error.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!Tue, 10 Nov 2009 18:14:20 Z2009-11-18T03:43:27Zhttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/d37db2c5-5c84-4200-befc-9b3b312136a2http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/d37db2c5-5c84-4200-befc-9b3b312136a2Alex Morrillhttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Alex%20MorrillMSDN Release Notes - August 2009
This release contains updates made to protocol documents since the last release. [NPI00E***]

Currently I'm making DHCP reservations for printers on the network, and using my networks naming proper naming convention for the reservations. Is it possible that if i dont change the name on the client end it will update the name reservation that i have given it to its default name?

overall issue::
printer name reservations on the DHCP server are being automatically renamed to the default printer client name when ever we have a power outage that affect our routers and or switches. One of my dhcp clients sends discover/offer with a number of required options in value of option 55 (see http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1533.html, 9.6. Parameter Request List). DHCP server responds with exactly requested option but without some witch were not requested. That client actually wanted to receive some more together with requested ones (and rfc say that option 55 do not set limit on what should be returned but specify order of option which should be used in response). So I'm looking for any way to override that behavour and make dhcp server respond with some more options together with specified ones, actually a way to override that list specified by client. So if there are any ideas on how to achive that, please give a clue...

Quilibet fortunae suae faberWed, 17 Dec 2008 11:33:44 Z2009-01-08T19:39:55Zhttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/562b3296-8eca-4c3e-b9b4-7d27080bade3http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/562b3296-8eca-4c3e-b9b4-7d27080bade3PC Varmahttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=PC%20VarmaDoes VMWare Virtual server, MicroSoft Virtual Server runs on same protocol in case of VM consoles?Hi Richard Guthrie
Thanks a lot for the replay. I read on this link:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms861803.aspx that Windows CE can read the password from the .rdp file but does not have the ACLs to securely write passwords. So I was wondering how I can encrypt my password so the Remote Desktop won't ask me for my password when I try to connect to the remote machine.

I also read on this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms861732.aspx, that "By making the appropriate changes in %_WINCEROOT%\Public\Rdp\Oak\Uit\cetsc, an OS developer can change this default behavior so that the password is saved to the device" I'm wondering what sort of changes are we talking about here, I have no Idea what I should make...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike
Wed, 21 May 2008 14:20:16 Z2008-07-28T20:06:55Zhttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/af15dea6-c0c0-440e-b432-783edc4b8526http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/os_specifications/thread/af15dea6-c0c0-440e-b432-783edc4b8526Art Kreitmanhttp://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Art%20KreitmanRDP Protocol Specification
 I've been looking for the RDP protocol in the open specs, but haven't been able to find it. Is it included? Where?
Wed, 14 May 2008 14:05:23 Z2008-07-28T20:06:53Z
