LM related protocols and documentation

I was trying to understand whether it is possible to develop a Livemeeting client that will support full conferencing features. As I understand the Livemeeting SDK is for managing meetings but does not have the API for joining a meeting and live exchange of audio and video. I understand that it is left to low level protocol specifications for implementors. I have the following questions:
1. Is there sufficient documentation available for an end to end implementations of the protocol(s)?
2. As I understand that there are multiple protocols involved viz PSOM, RTP, SRTP. Is there a documentation on which one is used for what purpose and how the handshaking works during opening a communication channel and its subsequent closure and when to switch between the protocols?
3. What licenses do I need to obtain if I get into such development (live meeting client)
Appreciate your response in advance...

Hi scpc0609,
1. Is there sufficient documentation available for an end to end implementations of the protocol(s)? As a starting point, you may use the Open Specifications Interactive Pivot to delve into the specification documents that define the various protocols involved and determine if they are sufficient for your implementation requirements.
2. As I understand that there are multiple protocols involved viz PSOM, RTP, SRTP. Is there a documentation on which one is used for what purpose and how the handshaking works during opening a communication channel and its subsequent closure and when to switch between the protocols? You may want to refer to [MS-OCSPROT] Lync and Lync Server Protocols Overview document, which contains a Functional Architecture Overview and corresponding document references.
3. What licenses do I need to obtain if I get into such development (live meeting client)Please reference the following link concerning licensing information, http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/IntellectualProperty/IPLicensing/Default.aspx. If you have additional licensing questions you may email "Iplicreq <at> microsoft <dot> com".
