Create A Site : File not Found

I created a site at the site collection.

But when I went to that particular URL that I have just created.
It shows an error saying Error : File Not Found.

Did I miss a step?

Hi,
Our company has over 15,000 employees. What is the possibility of setting up about 7,000 employees for blogging or something like twitter in SharePoint (MOSS). How is it set up? What about CAL or licensing requirement. Is there an enterprise licensing for this? Where is the best resource for questions like these?

Unable to add selected webpart in .wsp format

Hmm.. I have a webpart that i have successfully deployed.. But when it appears on the pop up box that allows us to select the webparts that we want to add..
Normally it appears as the webpart's name.. but for this webpart I'm trying to add.. it appears as [webpart's name].wsp ... And it comes out an error saying that only .webpart or .dwp extensions can be added..

Is there a way to convert?

When I write HTML and CSS code in the code editor of a Sharepoint Wiki Page - the page resets to a blank one and the code is lost. It seems that the Sharepoint Wiki pages do not support classic HTML and CSS.

Is there a way to import an HTML page in a Shareopint Wiki page or a way to write HTML and CSS code in the code editor of a Sharepoint Wiki page?

Hi,

I'm using sharepoint and visual studio 2008 to create webparts in a student portal.
I'm new to it and I'm not sure if there is any codes for a webpart like workflow that can work like this..

I need to create something that allows user (e.g. Teacher) to upload documents and teacher can set start and end dates.
But when the due date is over, is there something I can do to make the link for submission gone when the assignment has expired?

I'm not sure whether I'm asking in the correct way ..

hi,
im newbie in this sp 2007 stuff. was trying to configure SSO on server farm installed on microsoft Virtual servers.

server 1: domain controller
server 2: database server
server 3: Moss server

I enable Microsoft Single sign on from windows managment. then i went to Sharepoint site> central Administration> Operations> Manage Single Sign-on

now im trying to give Administrator account and enterprise app defination administrator account. my domain is domain.local and i have been trying all user accounts on domain and domain\administrator as well but it keeps on saying.
* YOu do not have rights to perform this operation.

i really don understand what does it mean by this statement as ive been trying all approaches...

I have requirement wherein a User is logged into an existing Extranet with his credentials. I have abiility to pass the User's Identity as an encrypted HTTP header (but not the password). Can I achieve SSO into Sharepoint, in this scenario? All examples and documents talk about UserID & password usage. But its not truly an SSO if I am passing the password. It is not always possible to obtain the password in a complex Extranet.

hi all,

im trying to get the size of a document.

i have a folder \ Document Library url.
i sent this url to the 'enumerate folder' method of the 'sitedata' webservice.
this method returns an array of type _SFPurl.

Each url, i believe, indicates a folder or a file. i filter it to have only the files (=documents).

so now i have an array of _SFPurls of all the files under a folder\document library.

now from the _SFPurl of the document i want to get its size.
how do i do that???

(maybe you know other ways to find the size of a documnet)

Since SharePoint Index Server is not cluster (failover) aware, what other options are available to achieve high availability of Index server?

One idea is to have two Index Servers and each Index server index distinct content.
Another option is to have two index servers and make on e of them active and another passive.
Can someone shed light on this issue and are there any other options?

Creating Folders in WSS 3.0 (via send email to incoming mail enabled Document Library) in SharePoint Designer Workflows.

I'm working on a workflow in SharePoint Designer from a list, and I want to be able to create a folder in a document library as one of the steps in the workflow. Since there is no "Create Folder" action, I enabled incoming mail on a document library, and have this email address as the "to field" in the send mail action in the workflow. However, the email is not getting through to the doucment library and my folders are not getting created.

I know that the send mail action is working as I am able to send mail to myself from the workflow and alerts from SharePoint are also working. I had an issue with McAfee blocking outgoing email because it throught it was a mass email worm, and I corrected that. I also tried to create a user in AD that had the same email address as the document library, because I read that many people had success when they use an object in the "to field" as opposed to an email address. The "Drop" folder in the MailRoot Directory appears to recieve the email, but does not route it to the document library to create the folder.

Any ideas how to get the send mail action from the workflow to reach the document library or a better way to create folders via SharePoint Designer workflow.

I am trying to create an XSLT data view but I cannot seem to find the "Name (Link to document with edit item)" is missing from the field list. Also the Name field is missing the Workflow option. What do I need to do to get the complete list of options depending on the users rights to the list? Please help... this is my first SharePoint project so I am a bit of a novice!

We just want to deploy SQL 2005 and MOSS 2007 on the same server without stand-alone mode, so thtat we can extent the structure if needed. Actually, it may be a small farm. When we run the sharepoint capacity tool to simulate the scenario, it toll me it cannot work. Just wanted to confirm if Windows Sharepoint Services 2007 meant same as WSS 3.0 or is it different(cos we have WSS 3.0 installed)

Hi There

I'm pretty new to this forum and thus am not sure where to put this question - please forgive me if this is the wrong place.

The Case:
I manage a website which has anonymous reading access to all content. In this content I've created a custom list called "myList" which is located right under (as "child") the root site.
I've then developed an application which queries a MOSS-list through authenticated webservice (/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx).

The idea is, that my customers only are able to read the list through my application (i.e. the list has to be restricted from all anonymous access).

So far i've tried to change the settings under "myList"->"Settings"->"List Settings"->"Permissions for this list". Even though I removed all the users from the list, it didn't affect anything.

How do I make access restricted to this list ?

I have SSRS not configured in SharePoint integration mode.
I am using SharePoint Viewer and SharePoint Explorer web part to connect and display reports in SharePoint Web Part page.

now, I would like to use filter web part along with these two web parts (Viewer and Explorer).
any idea which filter web part I can use in this case? I tried all of them but nothing seemed to be working!
Again, I want three web parts working together.

The idea is to have a common filter web part for all the reports in my report explorer web part, and those filters are automatically populated from the values that i get in the report viewer web part. When I drill through, the filter web part should reflect those values. When i change the filter value in the filter web part and submit the form using filter action, the report should change accordingly..

As of now, I could successfully connect viewer and explorer, but not able to connect filter web part.

What I am trying to do is in a Calendar event, I would like to add a button to the toolbar that allows a user to add their name to a list to say they're interested in an event.

We have requirement where we need to display data in SPGrid as it will sync with Share Point look and field. The Problem is SPGridView contains a Custom Field CheckBox and the SPGridView is bound to a dynamic Query, when paginating the current dataset is vanishing.

Hi,

I have a webpart which includes template files(.aspx files) which need to be copied to Template\layouts of SharePoint structure.
In SPS 2007 we can specify that in Manifest.xml and it will auotmatically copy the template files to template\layouts when the solution gets deployed.

But i couldnt find a way of doing this in SPS 2003 and my webpart when accessed gives "file not found" since they are not present in \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS.

It will be great if you could tell me if this is possible in SPS 2003 else is there any other way of inlcuding templates.

Querying KPI list using lists webservice

Hi,
I'm developing a client application that displays data retrieved from a Sharepoint server using lists webservice. My problem is, that if the list contains a KPI indicator, the actual status field that comes with GetListItemsResult response contains 0. It seems that the value field is calculated later, but I don't know how to get the status value once it is calculated. I guess there must be another webservice for that.
Could someone please help me?

Bad section pointers to MS-WSSFO in MS-PRIMEPF

[MS-PRIMEPF].pdf (pg 84) points to [MS-WSSFO].pdf Section 2.2.2.23 for TimeZoneId.
The section in [MS-WSSFO].pdf should be 2.2.3.17
A few lines down CalendarType should point to section 2.2.3.3, and further down, AlternateCalendarType should point to the same place
CollationOrder should point to section 2.2.3.4
WorkDays should point to 2.2.2.12

I didn't do an exhaustive cross ref, just noticed these ones on page 84.

The Lists Web Service Protocol specification says: in the GetList function I can get detailed information about a list it would appear from the RegionalSettings I could use the TimeZone field an excerp from the response from the GetList is below. But the protocol spec says the TimeZone value does not indicate standard bias like it appears to but the timeZone itself - Anybody know about this?
