Visio 2013 x32 Preview - installation issues
-
Monday, August 06, 2012 1:31 PMUpon first and subsequent launches, Visio does not appear to be fully installed. Many elements are missing from the window. Re-installing does not resolve it. I have the Office 2013 preview installed as well, and it is working as expected.

Bryan,
Please elaborate what are missing from the Window. Btw, you can inspect the Visio 2013 installation details in log. Go to %temp% folder, the log name is like OfficeSetup2012080816131639D4.log
thanks.

I'm trying to find that log file but not having any success thus far. I'll keep digging for it. Two screenshots below.
Here is what the launch screen looks like:
Opening an existing file, here's what I see:

I think I found the log file you requested: SetupExe...
It's too large to copy here. Let me know if there's a location or address to which I may send it.

The log file says:
- You successfully reinstalled Visio. I suggest you uninstall Visio 2013 completely and reinstall.
- You have Office 2010 on machine before you install Visio 2013. While this is supported, new software will replace old ones, I suggest you remove old one and reinstall.
I installed Visio 2013 on Windows 8 & Windows 7, they all work well.
thanks.

Friday, August 10, 2012 3:26 PMI've seen a very similar screen on my machine with the missing text. When I try to open a file that I previously created with Visio 2013 Premium (on the same machine), then the program crashes. I tried uninstalling, re-installing Visio 2013 Premium, and still have the same issues. I also tried uninstalling Visio 2013, uninstalling Visio 2010, and then re-installing Visio 2013 with the same result. These are 64-bit versions and I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I finally gave up and reverted back to Visio 2010 for now. I'd love to hear of a possible resolution to this, but in the meantime I've got to get my work done...and it seems that it will have to be in Visio 2010. I just wanted you to know that others are seeing similar issues!

Sorry you run into trouble. There's known graphic driver problem that affects Office 2013 rendering. Below is a few steps to fix it. Please try and report back if it resolves the problem:
- Disable hardware acceleration. You have two options for doing this. Go to Visio File > Options > Advanced and check on the checkbox for “Disable Hardware acceleration” or Set registry key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Graphics] DisableHardwareAcceleration=1.
- Update graphics driver to the latest one. You can find this on your graphics card vendor’s website. Note: Win7 Users on Nvidia/Intel hybrid cards have had a lot of luck with this driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-296.70-whql-driver.html Does this fix the issue?
- If that doesn’t work, try to disabling the adapter completely. Go to Control Panel/Device manager, usually there are two display adapters shown. If there’s an Intel one and an Nvidia one, right click the Nvidia one and disable it. Then see if things still repro. Nvidia graphics cards have been causing AirSpace rendering issues.
thanks.
