Unable to install .Net Framework 4 Beta 2 on 64-bit Windows 7

I have been unable to install the .Net Framework 4 Beta on Windows 7 x64. Reviewing the log file we see the message

Action: Performing Action on MSI at D:\1fb3200a639e1042d53435393679fef8\netfx_Core_x64.msi
Returning IDOK. INSTALLMESSAGE_ERROR [The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.]

I have already tried instructions found elsewhere regarding unregistering and reregistering the msiexec. The service in the Services panel seems to be running. The path to executable is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe /V

Any help would be appreaciated.

Any way for someone using VS 2008 to use a .Net 4-based assembly?

I am in a team situation where the other team members have no need for .NET 4 features at this time. They are all using VS 2008, and are hoping to defer upgrading to VS 2010 for now. So my question is whether it is possible for them to connect to the .NET 4 based work that I am doing? I'm assuming I would have to compile my piece into a dll using VS 2010, and they would have to install the .NET 4 runtime .. then is there someway to proceed from there? I need to make some kind of .NET 3 wrapper?

.net framework cannot be installed successfully. any help is well appreciated. I am getting the following error:

Hi,

The typical install logs don't show account passwords in plain text; however, if you locate the TFSJobAgent.InstallLog the account password shows in plain text.

I get this error whenever I try to install .Net Framework 4.0 Beta 2 or even MS Office! I know its a registry thing, but how do I fix it?

I'm running windows 7 ultimate.

I've tried to uninstall 2010 beta 1 and .net 4.0 beta 1.
Had issues with Axum and STM.Net.
Everything looks clean, but can't really tell.
Rebooted dozens of time.

When I try to intall just .net 4 beta 2 I keep getting:

INSTALLMESSAGE_ERROR [Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 2 cannot be installed because it will affect other applications that are installed. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91126.]

The go link is useless, it takes you to .net 3.0.

I tried to reinstall .net 4 beta1 and get the exact same message.

I don't know what else to try and unistall.

Is there any way I can tell what the applications that are going to be affected are so I can unistall them?
Is there any way of forcing an install?
Starting clean is not an option.

Hi,

I'm trying to install .NET Framework 4 Beta 2 on my Windows 7 machine. Installer fails with "The system cannot find the file specified" reason on the final screen, though I couldn't find which file is the problem in any of the log files linked from installer page. ProcMon indeed shows File Not Found problems like ones below

Cannot remove Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 1 & .NET Framework 4 Extended Beta 1 after uninstalling Visual Studio 2010 BETA

My 8 year old son downloaded Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 BETA last month on our HP computer. After realizing that it wasn't what he thought it would be, he uninstalled it. Since he's uninstalled it, when we turn our computer on, we get 2 error messages: 1) HPHC.Scheduler.exe-Unable to Locate Component This application has failed to start because MSVCR100.dll was not found. Re-installing the application my fix this problem. 2) HPHC.Scheduler.exe-.NET Framework Initialization Error C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v.4.0.20506\mscoreei.dll could not be loaded. We then click Cancel on those messages and proceed to use our computer as usual. However, we also began having an issue with our software Roxio Creator 2009. For some reason, the installation screen would pop up sporadically if we right-clicked on something. So, I decided to uninstall this software and reinstall it to see if it would solve that issue. Now, I cannot reinstall it! I had a friend take a look at the computer and he thinks it's all due to the .NET Framework entries that were not removed when my son uninstalled the Visual Studio 2010 BETA. We cannot get rid of the following .NET Framework from our computer: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Beta 1. I was going to attempt a System Restore in Vista, but my restore points only go back one week. My son installed the BETA in June. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? Possibly what registry entries we need to delete? I am not an extremely experienced computer user, so I'm hoping that someone can help in a computer language that I can follow. Thank You!

Firefox file downloads - spaces in filename

Some of my users use Firefox to download files but when the filename has embedded spaces the filename is getting trucated to the end of the first 'word'

What/how to fix ?

Install fails because it say's .net framework 1.0 is installed. However in "Add remove programs .net 1.0 is not listed, as though it is not installed.

I have .net 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5 installed with required service packs.

Is .net installed and just not showing up on the program list, or is the .net 4 intallation program incorrectly showing version 1.0 is installed ?

How do i get around this.

I have XP Media center 2005
I have VS 2005 and 2008 installed on this machine.

Hello,

I am unable to install .NET 4 Beta 1 Framework on my Windows XP, x86 computer. The error states that I cannot have .NET 1.0 installed, "The .NET Framework 4 Beta 1 cannot be installed if the .NET Framework 1.0 is installed". Following the error, the ReadMe file, states:

To resolve this issue:

1) In the program installation section of the Windows Control Panel, uninstall the .NET Framework 1.0.

2) Install the .NET Framework 4 Beta 1.

And so, I go to Control Panel just like it says, I look for .NET Framework 1.0, but it is not even in the list, how do I resolve this problem?

I installed successfully VS 2010 and .net framework beta 1 on Vista x64 and I'm planning to upgrade to Win 7.
But I cannot uninstall the framework.
According to https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=478238&wa=wsignin1.0, "Please allow .NET Framework 4 setup uninstall continue to finish by clicking on “close program” when you see the crash dialog. " the setup never ends and gets stuck at the same position even when I click "close program", no matter how many times I do it.
After my system is in a weird state, many .NET programs fail, the only solution is to reinstall VS 2010.
Any other suggestions?

Id like to start by saying this started when I went to Microsoft developer website to download visual studio. I got a beta version and it put

a bunch of .net framework 4 stuff and other items on my computer. I could not find the compiler so and the items were taking up space

so I started to remove them by using add remove programs feature under the control panel. Getting down the list of things to remove it

said warning removing some of these items may cause compitbility problems with other programs in the future. Thinking about it and

having so much space taken up by all these items that Microsoft put on my computer I went ahead and removed them anyway. Getting

to the last two items on the list and removing them the green bar got over half way then froze and non responsive. Over and over again

this happened and I still have the items on the list. Note this has been months ago and this problem has persisted. I came here before

and the instructions given to me where to go to the command prompt and enter codes to remove them or repair them I am not sure I

would have to look at the previous thread again. After all of this happened I started haveing compitabilty issues with other programs,

such as simply updating stuff on my computer. Some items would not update there error codes are as follows. ( code 643 code

80070643) Not only that but when I go to play a game by Microsoft Medievil Total War, and Empire it gives me and error saying

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.20506\mscoreei.dll could not be loaded. It has a red circle with an x in it and an ok button.

The title of it says Launcher.ece - .Net Framework Initialization Error So again another compatibility problem. Any advice on what to do I

was told to go to this one site that talked about .net framework 4 they told me it was a beta and still being tested. I had been trying

to enter the codes in command prompt just as they were and they didn't work. All I am trying to do is get my computer back to the way it
was before I installed and removed those .net framework 4 items. Note there is no other problems with my computer like being slow or

playing other games. My computer in general works fine besides getting this Trend Internet security to update which if have made cases

with them dozens of times and the problem continues. But id really like to fix this its just these following things have continued and I let it

go for months now and its still there. I am using windows vista and an xps computer 6 gegs of ram GT 9800 graphics card. Also another

error does appear I almost forgot to add. Out of nowhere this window will pop up that title says Microsoft Windows. Then the error

says .NET Runtime Optimization Service stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.

Windows will notify you if a solution is available. I almost forgot one last thing the names of the last to items on the add remove

programs list that are wont uninstall. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Beta 1.

I hope I can get this problem fixed soon because I soon want to add more ram to my comp and play Total war again and not worry about
installing other games or programs that may have compidability issues due to this problem. I also wish I could have found the compiler

to visual studio or visual C and wonder if my book on visual basic 6 works when using visual studio compiler? Thanks for taking the time

Hello Everybody, I'm facing a lot of problems with Visual Studio 2010 Beta1 on my development machine with Visual studio 2008 SP1. I can not create WPF projects in VS 2008 SP1, When i try to do so, Visual Studio Closes without any notification. And also, I'm not able to Open Expression Studio 2, Or Expression Blend 3 Mix09 Preview. When I run, it says: cannot load file or assembly 'PresentationFramework.dll version=3.0.0.0 ...' etc and closes. And in my GAC I've version 4.0. something of this file. Please Help Me. I'm Seriously thinking to go on to the JAVA Way (Just Joking!).

What's up with the "Reboot" step?

The installer (on my machine) has a third from the last step called "Reboot". I assumed this was a marker to tell the user the installer would need to reboot at that stage, but on my install it did not reboot. It actually quickly went through that step and actually said something like "Installing Reboot...".

You apparently are using some proprietary download manager. No matter what network I use,
it degrades the throughput to 5 kb per second or even 1 kb per second. The "Professional Beta 1"
file is so huge that I can get only a small fraction of it over several hours of "downloading". I have
tried the AT&T network, the T-Mobile network, and the Skywave network. While your download
manager is running at degraded rate, I can download other software via Mozilla Firefox at the
regular rate.

I am trying to install VS 2020 on Vista 64 bit. The installation fails on installing .net framework 4. If I try to install the framework separately I get an error " The semaphore timeout period has expired. Any suggestions?
