QuestionUnable to Install .NET 4 Beta 1

    Hello,

I am unable to install .NET 4 Beta 1 Framework on my Windows XP, x86 computer.  The error states that I cannot have .NET 1.0 installed, "The .NET Framework 4 Beta 1 cannot be installed if the .NET Framework 1.0 is installed".  Following the error, the ReadMe file, states:

    To resolve this issue:

    1) In the program installation section of the Windows Control Panel, uninstall the .NET Framework 1.0.

    2) Install the .NET Framework 4 Beta 1.

And so, I go to Control Panel just like it says, I look for .NET Framework 1.0, but it is not even in the list, how do I resolve this problem?

    Regards,
    Adjutor

    Hi Adjutor,

I am moving this thread from Base "Visual Studio 2010 Install and Setup" forum to the ".NET Framework 4 setup & deployment (Pre-Release versions)" forum, since the issue is related to .NET 4.0 installation. There are more experts in the ".NET Framework 4 setup & deployment (Pre-Release versions)" forum.

    Thanks

What is your operating system?  Certain OS flavors do contain .Net Framework 1.0 built in and will hit this block.  This is an issue we are looking at for the next Beta release/

    Thanks,

    Hello,

My OS was stated within the question "on my Windows XP, x86 computer", but I'll reference again.  I am using Windows XP Home Edition (32-bit).

    Hi,

XP Media Center Edition had 1.0 built in, but Home Edition did not.  I'm not sure why you wouldn't see 1.0  in your Control Panel in this case.  However, we are looking into this issue for the next Beta relase, so you should not have the same problems in the future.
