Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 2 cannot be installed because it will affect other applications that are installed

Question

I'm running windows 7 ultimate.

I've tried to uninstall 2010 beta 1 and .net 4.0 beta 1.
Had issues with Axum and STM.Net.
Everything looks clean, but can't really tell.
Rebooted dozens of time.

When I try to intall just .net 4 beta 2 I keep getting:

INSTALLMESSAGE_ERROR [Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 2 cannot be installed because it will affect other applications that are installed. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91126.]


The go link is useless, it takes you to .net 3.0.

I tried to reinstall .net 4 beta1 and get the exact same message.

I don't know what else to try and unistall.

Is there any way I can tell what the applications that are going to be affected are so I can unistall them?
Is there any way of forcing an install?
Starting clean is not an option.

I'd like to take a look at the complete install logs to determine the exact block you're running into.  Could you collect your .Netfx4 setup logs following the instructions at http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/pages/collect.aspx and post them somewhere we can access? (you can use skydrive.live.com to post the logs).  I'd be happy to take a look to see what has happened.

The problem is likely related to the STM.NET install. Once that product is removed, you should be able to install. Above you said, you had trouble uninstalling STM.NET, what was the trouble?
