>net framework and updateing
- Id like to start by saying this started when I went to Microsoft developer website to download visual studio. I got a beta version and it put
a bunch of .net framework 4 stuff and other items on my computer. I could not find the compiler so and the items were taking up space
so I started to remove them by using add remove programs feature under the control panel. Getting down the list of things to remove it
said warning removing some of these items may cause compitbility problems with other programs in the future. Thinking about it and
having so much space taken up by all these items that Microsoft put on my computer I went ahead and removed them anyway. Getting
to the last two items on the list and removing them the green bar got over half way then froze and non responsive. Over and over again
this happened and I still have the items on the list. Note this has been months ago and this problem has persisted. I came here before
and the instructions given to me where to go to the command prompt and enter codes to remove them or repair them I am not sure I
would have to look at the previous thread again. After all of this happened I started haveing compitabilty issues with other programs,
such as simply updating stuff on my computer. Some items would not update there error codes are as follows. ( code 643 code
80070643) Not only that but when I go to play a game by Microsoft Medievil Total War, and Empire it gives me and error saying
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.20506\mscoreei.dll could not be loaded. It has a red circle with an x in it and an ok button.
The title of it says Launcher.ece - .Net Framework Initialization Error So again another compatibility problem. Any advice on what to do I
was told to go to this one site that talked about .net framework 4 they told me it was a beta and still being tested. I had been trying
to enter the codes in command prompt just as they were and they didn't work. All I am trying to do is get my computer back to the way it
was before I installed and removed those .net framework 4 items. Note there is no other problems with my computer like being slow or
playing other games. My computer in general works fine besides getting this Trend Internet security to update which if have made cases
with them dozens of times and the problem continues. But id really like to fix this its just these following things have continued and I let it
go for months now and its still there. I am using windows vista and an xps computer 6 gegs of ram GT 9800 graphics card. Also another
error does appear I almost forgot to add. Out of nowhere this window will pop up that title says Microsoft Windows. Then the error
says .NET Runtime Optimization Service stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.
Windows will notify you if a solution is available. I almost forgot one last thing the names of the last to items on the add remove
programs list that are wont uninstall. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Beta 1.
I hope I can get this problem fixed soon because I soon want to add more ram to my comp and play Total war again and not worry about
installing other games or programs that may have compidability issues due to this problem. I also wish I could have found the compiler
to visual studio or visual C and wonder if my book on visual basic 6 works when using visual studio compiler? Thanks for taking the time
out to read and assess my problem.- Moved byKarel ZikmundMSFTTuesday, September 08, 2009 4:12 PMUninstallation problem (From:.NET Framework 4 Beta 1 – General)

- nobody can help? this is not a joke sorry for it being so long
Hello Matt,
Here are some answers:
1) I am not sure what exactly you downloaded, but full version of .NET Framework 4 Beta 1 contains C# and VB compiler. They can be used only from command line, so if you want to use them comfortably, try to use Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 (which also contains C++ compiler).
2) I am sorry to hear about your troubles after uninstallation. It seems that .NET Framework uninstallation somehow failed and .NET Framework 4 Beta 1 is still partially installed/registered on your computer. I am unfortunately not expert on (un)installation, so I'll move this thread to their forum.
Here are things which might help our installation team to figure out what's wrong:
A) What is the file version (Explorer - right click on file - Properties | Details page | File version) of C:\Windows\System32\mscoree.dll and/or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mscoree.dll? (Is it 4.0.20506.x?)
B) Are there directories C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework[64]\v4.0.20506? If yes, how many files are there?
C) Can you check out registry key (using regedit.exe) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0* and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0*? Do such keys exist? Do they have some subkeys?
-Karel- A) file version under mscore.dll is 4.0.20428.1 B) yes there is directories under microsoft.net framework 64 v2.0.50727 v3.0 v3.5 v4.0.20506 alot of files in all these folders C) there is no v4.0 just v2.0.50727 and v3.0 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\ and also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\ doesnt have v4.0 it has v1.0 v2.0.50727 v3.0 is there a way to save screen shots and upload them for more details?
- Could you collect your .Netfx4 setup/uninstall logs following the instructions at http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/pages/collect.aspx and post them somewhere we can access? (you can use skydrive.live.com to post the logs). I'd be happy to take a look to see what has happened.
Thanks,
~Merrie
