Error 25015 while installing .NET Framework 2.0

Hi ,

I try to install .Net Framework 2.0 and encounter this error :

Error 25015.Failed to  install assembly

'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.VSA.dll' because of system error: Access is denied.

Please help!

To troubleshoot .NET Framework 2.0 installation issues, you must use an account that is in the Local Administrators group on the computer that is running the .NET Framework 2.0.


First perform windows update in the machine.
Later try installing .NET Framework 2.0

Thanks Jai for your great suggestion, stephen, I believe you may follow Jai's suggestion to resolve the issue. I will paste the solution mentioned in the article refered above here to make answer searching in this forum easier and be more convenient to other community members.

1. Use the SubInAcl tool described at http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx to make sure that the Administrators group and the SYSTEM account both have permissions to folders under %windir% and registry hives under HKLM

2. Run the cleanup tool described at http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx to make sure any remnants of the .NET Framework 2.0 have been removed from the system

3. Try again to install the .NET Framework 2.0
